Per BA I've had 69 styles. There are still a few beers I have checked in on Untappd that I haven't made it over here to rate but I imagine it will still be at 69. 35 to go...

68 to date. It'll be interesting to see how much higher I'll go, since I'm really not trying to hit all 104. I was a little surprised to have hit 68.

9213. But I've spent a lot of time on other planets sampling many alien brewed beers.

Yes, there is a difference between drinking a style and drinking a beer labelled as that style.Few BAs will have actually tried a genuine Saison or a Kolsch for example.
Of course many styles in any case are simply substyles or variants within a style.

    Good poser (question).

We can't make a genuine saison here? If so, is it some yeast we can't get here? Funny to think the likes of Shaun Hill/Hill Farmstead and Crooked Stave aren't producing genuine saisons? Or what? Is saison a term like lambic which is area specific? Inquiring minds want to know.

    103. The only one I haven't tried is Happoshu and I guess you can only get it in Japan. I don't that style should be listed on here if you have to go to Japan to get it.

If the beer is a traditional Japanese one, why *shouldn't* you have to go to the source country to get it?

Right at 91. Pretty sure if I tried I could easily knock out another 5 to 7. After that it will get dicey.

Saison never was a style, it was simply a phrase like "home cooking" but all about brewing a low gravity 3-4% ABV beer on a small scale to be drunk at harvest time.Every brewer had his own ideas and recipe. The beer could be pretty well anything you could get with the available ingredients.

Ah, so there is no such thing as a genuine saison, therefore no one can have tried one.

97 - but they all really start to blur into a Stout/IPA/Lager dichotomy after a while... not that I'm complaining :grinning:

Of course there is such a thing but by definition it can't be brewed commercially.Just as you can't get home made burgers at MacDonalds. Most commercial "saisons" are wildly too strong anyway.

You really should contact these folks

    http://www.brasserie-dupont.com/dupont/fr/tableaupres.html

and let them know that some of their beers are too strong and the equivalent of a McDonald's burger.
