Hi does anyone have any of these crowncaps stored away somewhere that they might be interested to trade or sell. I am particularly keen to obtain samples of the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co - Bigfoot caps from pre-1998 and the Weathermen caps for: 'Nut Brown', Pilsner' and 'Winter Hook'.

Hi MikeP64, The Redhook Ale Brewery 'Weatherman' series is a set of just 7 caps that the brewery issued in 2011 alongside standard crowncaps for 7 specific beers. For every 600 bottles or so that they released using a standard beer branded cap they issued one bottle only with a special (weatherman) cap. Hence to collectors these are quite rare caps. In each case the image on the crowncap shows a silhouette of a man doing different outdoor activities such as skiing, fishing, barbecuing, etc and wearing protective outdoor clothing and hat - hence the 'weatherman' tag. I have never been able to upload pictures successfully into Beer Advocate but if you would like to see the cap designs, please send me an email and I will respond by attaching the pictures. My email address is kearley7 (at) gmail.com. Clearly you need to substitute the (at) with an @ character. Hope to hear from you soon. Andrew.

Excellent find. The one that is missing from the 7 caps in that link is the 'Nut Brown' cap. I have four of them already but I am missing 'Nut Brown', 'Pilsner' and 'Winter Hook'.

How do you store or something display your caps? I want to start a collection but just don't want to throw them in a box.

Hi #chefhatt, I store my collection of caps in purpose made ring-binders which I buy from a special album producer in Germany. Each ring binder can hold up to 9 sleeves and each sleeve can hold up to 42 caps. The sleeves are purpose made on stiff yet pliable plastic which are designed specifically to hold bottle caps. This is not a cheap option. I have not been able to master loading photos onto this BA website, however if you would like to see a picture of my stored collection just email me on kearley7[at]gmail.com - replacing the [at] with an '@' symbol and I will send a couple of pics. Others store their collections on magnetic sheets. See for instance the avatar for #Sirbottlecaps.

Here you go (I use velcro, actually)...
I ain't got but one of those Redhooks, I'm afraid! Sad times are these.
AndyCapper, how were you able to load your avatar? I had a hell of a time figuring that out until I used Photobucket. I was able to load photos for threads like this (sometimes), but I just couldn't get it to work for my avatar using other services.

Hi Sirbottlecap. In response to your query...I accessed my Personal Details, then selected Avatar (clicked on the current Avatar image), then clicked on 'Browse' and selected an image from my 'C:/' drive - making sure it had a sufficiently low pixel resolution. My image is a .jpeg which is a supported format. To find which formats are acceptable hover your cursor over the 'Browse' button and it lists the formats. Hope this helps.

Like beer pics and brewery pics, I think your avatar is directly uploaded from your hard drive and a second person host is not needed. All you have to do is make sure the pics meets the specs for dimension and bytes.
