So I just discovered the past 48 hours I had left my light on in my beer cellar. I know that in liquor stores beer sits on shelf with lights beating down on them for long periods of time, but I need some advice. How detrimental was my light being on for 48 hours to my beer? I think I know the answer (not a big deal), but I still want some reassurance. Please help.

    Not a big deal.

But if I told you that it was a big deal, what could you do about it at this point anyway?

Is the bulb fluorescent? If not then it matters even less than you think it does.

Unfortunately your beer is ruined. I will be happy to help you out here, please send all your beers to me for free disposal.

This is why beer is bottled in dark bottles. And im not completely sure, but i think natural sunlight or florescent lighting is a lot worse than just incandescent bulbs.

Either way....there is no way your beer was affected by simply 2 days of light. If that was the case 90% of the beer in beer stores would spoil.

The way 90% of the beer in stores tastes makes it hard to tell!

That's why my "beer cellar" is closed cardboard boxes under shelving in my basement workshop.

You will be alright. It would take a lot longer then that to affect the beer.
