Somehow I have never made a trip up to VT for beer despite living in MA my whole life. There is plenty of info about the beer, but I'm finding it much harder to find food recommendations. Of course I can just use tripadvisor or yelp, but I prefer to hear from fellow beer lovers with similar tastes. It's also difficult to look up places over such a large area in terms of lunch on the way there and back. I can't get more than two days off in a row, more than likely I'll have one full day off to drive up, hang out, and spend the night (wherever is cheapest); then return home in the morning to get to work by 5pm.

More or less I am looking for your number one suggestion for dinner and breakfast in the area. Price is not an issue. And also one or two lunch spots really anywhere (close to halfway) between Boston and the beer. Also interested to hear what the cheapest place to stay is, though I will likely end up camping since why not?

I have no set date yet, though mid week seems to be the best time to go. Feel free to tell me why my plan sucks and how you would do it differently.

Worthy Kitchen in Woodstock -- southern most spot off 89 to get Hilll Farmstead brews. Great food and ridiculous tap list

Everything so far is great, but please consider Lost Nation in Morrisville or Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier.

IMHO Hen of the Wood in Waterbury for food in a classic old mill & Hen in Burlington for food in a great new venue made to be pure Vermont. Both are my go to's without a budget.

FYI, if you want to go to Hen of the Wood, make sure to make your reservations WAAAAY in advance. I've tried and failed a couple of times, but it's always been on a weekend. Perhaps you'd have better luck on a weeknight.

If you are heading from Boston to Hill Farmstead, about 2/3 of the way is Littleton, NH and Schilling Beer Co. It's a great brewpub, and they do lunch Fri/Sat/Sun, but that doesn't jive with midweek very well.

This place is terrible and I'm so tired of seeing people recommend it, its overpriced, they've made me sick twice, and have bad pizza and bad service.

OP Go to Pro Pig, Hen of the Wood, and Lost Nation in Morrisville.

went to Blue stone twice.. i agree a little over priced but what I have had from there has been solid.
it isnt close to NJ pizza though lol

also i went there right when they opened for lunch and the other time sat at the bar so service wasn't an issue.. of course Pro pig blows it out of the water

Lost Nation is the perfect stopover on the way to or from Hill Farmstead. Really good food and underrated beer.

Had the GLT at Pro Pig last Friday it was great. Worthy Burger is surely worth the stop IMO. And have to agree that Lost Nations beers are way under rated, I had The Wind for the first time last weekend and it was great.

If you're going to Hill Farmstead, you have to stop in at Parker Pie. Amazing pizzas, highly recomend the Green Mountain special. They also usually have a couple HF beers on draft and their retail shop is pretty great too.

Hen of the Wood and Prohibition Pig were amazing. Farmhouse and Three Penny Taproom were just "great" =) Beer selection at both of the latter places more than made up for it.

I've done the Boston to Waterbury beercation several times. Worthy Burger in South Royalton Vermont has life-chaging burgers, fries, and tap selection...and it is conveniently located close to Route 89 on your way there. Just go there, and thank me later!
