Melange 10 and the new anny are foiled it looks like - anyone know if they are planning to stop their iconic waxing?

I saw that too. Can someone confirm that there is no wax under the foil?

Ya they are very hairy now. :stuck_out_tongue:

But only Black Tuesday and the variants will be waxed in the future.

It is my understanding that they will still wax some special bottles, but the foil saves time, resources, and money since they can do that on the bottling line.

    No wax under the foil.

Yeah BT won't be the same without that wax you need to carve into. The anny variants always look cool with the different waxes, but it makes sense.

From what I've heard, they will foil/wax based on price point. The lower price point, as always, will be naked. The middle (guessing $25-$35 ish) will be foiled. The higher ones ($35+) will still be waxed. It is confirmed from Bruery staff that BT and variants WILL still be waxed.

The day of the week beers will still be waxed. The others will most likely be foiled.

    Hey all,

Sorry I'm a little late to the party on this one - somehow I didn't see this thread until now.

We will continue to wax beers that are priced higher than $30 per bottle (Mocha Wednesday, Wineification, Grey Monday, Chocolate Rain, etc...). Anything from $20 up to and including $30 per bottle will have capsules applied (Black Tuesday, Anniversary, Melange #3, etc...). Since we now have completely separate packaging warehouses for The Bruery and Bruery Terreux, none of the Bruery Terreux beers will be capsuled at this time.

The obvious exception to this is the Chronology series. For consistency's sake, we decided to wax Chronolgy:6 since the price points of the remaining beers in this series will span both ranges.

    Hope that clears everything up!

    Cheers,
    Matt Olesh

I agree, pretty much every other offering can go un-waxed but BT should stay

I don't like this change... If I pay $20 for a bottle, it should be waxed... Unless it's corked.

Because a beer that boutique should have an airtight seal... Especially if I'm going to age it for a few years. Not so much with the sours, but definitely with beers like BT/Annis/Melange... Wax does a better job keeping CO2 in and O2 out... Plus, they add to the classiness of the beer.
