Since you mentioned Mexican food, vegan food, and curiosity, I love Ranchos Cocina in Ocean Beach. Enormous menu with several versions of the same dish in meat, seafood, veggie and vegan.

By all means, get to Barrelworks. Note that the hours are limited.

Bay to Breakers is on May 17th. Only problem for you is that it's in SF.

what's going on guys. mid trip update. hit lost abbey, societe, toolbox, alesmith, & modern times so far. all solid stuff. bottles from few misc others. sad sundays were only days I could get to sd w/ all the wedding stuff (on bright side, my hotel had free open bar nightly 530-730!) council is closed then, sigh . days were jam packed. on bright side, temecula was actually pretty solid. I had consecration & supplecation bottles pretty cheap at the bar for bar prices, pliny on draft, just missed blind pig by a night, & tons of sick food. temecula is kinda a gem for what it's worth for food and uncrowded bars. kinda a revived scene. but lots of solid stuff, never drove more than 3 miles to anything from hotel. met a few super cool BAers & still got some spots left. barrelworks, bruery, & hopefully noble / bottlelogic. to the bottle & pint guy, I'll def be stopping there. one of the owners is friends with my cousin. we actually bbq'ed with them today a few-and I'm at the hotel next door lol go figure. they were real nice. thanks for all the help. cheers.

My parents have lived in Temecula for almost 30 years but I'm just now starting to check out the beers there. So far I've just been to Black Market, their upcoming cherry and blackberry berliners in cans are going to be a summer staple for me. And Liquor Depot, which so far I haven't picked anything up from.

Where did you get Pliny on draft? And are there any other bottle shops I should hit when I'm visiting my parents?

Liquor Depot just recently changed ownership. Hopefully they will still be a go to location for good bottles.

got few things at liquor depot. but he was very persistent on buying others for RR stuff. told me to come down and didn't have pliny when I got there. just a few of the lesser sours. not a huge deal, still got it. but just shoot straight. sorrel had pliny. chill spot, great food. I didn't get a chance to hit many shops there. hit both the barons - got pliny at one and avery sour at the other. killarneys had an awesome fridge of bottles for on site. some overpriced - but some pretty fair. public house and 1909 were awesome eat spots though with decent lists, but just good chill spots with good enough selection, good food, & not crazy crowds. everything was on a whim for me most of the week. so it was perfect. back home in ct or ny, places like that have big waits for dinner or weekends.

Excellent, thanks. The last time I was at Liquor Depot on Mother's Day they had apparently just changed all their shelving out and they didn't have much on hand. 1909 looked interesting the last time I drove through Old Town, I'll definitely give it a shot soon and check out some of the other places.
