New to Ohio (2015)

Alpine beers on tap at Lizardville this week starting with Lakewood tonight. Plus I saw a number of 3 floyds bottles there earlier.

 

Cleveland got plenty of Wood Ya Honey the same day as Westified, so no.

 

Stumbled into some random 3F south of Ctown. Regos, a neighborhood grocer where Brunswick, Strongsville, No Ro and Hinckley comes together, had several bottles of Rabbid Rabbit. Not my cup of tea, but was surprised to see 3F in their small selection if someone is looking for it.

 

Seems like we've gotten quite a bit of FFF stuff in OH so far this year.

Really enjoyed BB Wood Ya Honey last night. Can't say I've had anything like it before.

New Holland's Pilgrim's Dole is the same style as this if you're looking to try another such beer.

Alpine Nelson kegs in Youngstown. Supposedly only 10 kegs in Ohio?

 

High Westified in Akron at Lizardville.

 

If true, the Upper Arlington Daily Growler has one of the 10. They are doing an event tomorrow for Alpine including Nelson, Hoppy Birthday, Irish Red, Alpine Ale, Duet, and Captain Stout.

 

CBS on tap Thursday for Townhall in Ohio City's 2nd anniversary. Can't make it, but thought I'd share.

 

Yep, only 10 kegs of Nelson according to the distributor. More of Duet, which, quite frankly, kicks Nelson's ass this go-round.

 

I've never had either. Got a bomber of the Nelson in the fridge here at work teasing the shit out of me...

 

Agreed, Duet most closely resembled the bombers Ive had. Hoppy Birthday was a huge disappointment considering it's ratings.

Anyone going to Nelsonville this weekend for NMF? Would love to do a small bottleshare at the campground.

Yeah, Duet and Hoppy Birthday were both very good and a cut above Nelson. It's a solid beer though. It's funny to me how the Alpine IPA's (GF version) are pretty good, but the pale ale is really forgettable. Lizardville Bedford is doing Alpine drafts tonight I think.

 

I had Nelson at one establishment last week and absolutely loved it. Had it again along with Duet at a different establishment and thought Duet was way better. Nelson tasted very different than when I had it last week. I'm not quite sure why that was.

 

Had hoppy birthday on draft on 4-20. I found it to be meh. Was much happier with my second pint...and third pint of CBC Bodhi. (realize APA vs DIPA) Just my opinion.

Edit: it was a hop tap takeover event that took place 4-20.

 

A little late, but put me on the Awesome IPL bandwagon. Best I've had of that style, easily. Amazing beer for summer.
