I wish they'd post pour sizes.

Agreed. It's back as my favorite in town! They also have live music some nights, which was desperately needed in Waterbury.

I must agree that things at Blackback have improved substantially. The restored beer list is solid. I actually like the place better now that the loud mouth is gone. I do miss the Mad Taco food, but the new offerings are very good.

There is no excuse for not having pour sizes and abv on every offering, it's been mentioned to them by many people and they need to get on board with it.

Was there for lunch and beer selection and food were both excellent. Still a ton of HF from last weekend and lots of other good stuff. The bacon mac and cheese is insanely good. We took home 2 for later.

Blackback is #1 on my list of Waterbury bars, VT bars, heck maybe all bars. The owners are 2 of the nicest people you'll ever meet...and the rest of the staff are great too.

And c'mon, you're being pretty darn cynical if you're worried about whether your pour is 8oz or 12oz before ordering.

If those are my two options that sounds pretty awful

I ask mainly because 2 visits ago I was getting HF pours where the glass was barely more than half full. If pours are 6 or 8 oz but in a larger glass simply to allow for head space, it's important to note so on the menu so your customers don't feel ripped off.

The only time I've been to Blackback 2.0 the pour was a full tulip (13 oz?). The short pours were definitely an issue at the old one but in my limited experience that hasn't continued.

Good to hear it's a thing of the past.

Looks like they had some Zombie Dust this week. Can I ask why the hell they were serving it in a tulip? Do they serve other American pale ales in that glassware??

Was there last week. Food was very good, beer selection was awesome and the new owners are just about the most enthusiastic and friendliest people I've met in the beer world.

The only thing I didn't like about my trip to Waterbury was the S-L-O-W service at the Pro Pig brewery side. People waiting 20+ minutes for a beer with a small crowd. Amongst the worst bartending and system combination ever.

We're aware it can be slow at times. We're working on it.

I also miss the tap list on the giant board. My first move in Waterbury was to walk in the three places and check the boards to map out strategy. Didn't have to step more than a foot in Pro Pig to see what they had and make a quick exit
if the didn't have what I was looking for. That's probably why they don't use the board anymore.

We have 22 lines now in the brewery and cannot fit it on the board in a legible manner. House beers on tap are on the board.

It might be a pricey pour and a smaller size makes it affordable. Not sure why someone would bother paying extra for Zombie dust with so much great beer around there.

Pretty sure hoppy stuff is in a tulip at every bar in Waterbury (at the very least Res for sure), not sure the issue

Since this somehow became a general Waterbury bars thread, I'd like to say I had a phenomenal time visiting Pro Pig, the Rez, and Blackback last weekend, before and during the HF event. Staff at all three did an amazing job. Had my best Pro Pig meal ever on Friday night, the Rez was keeping up with the crazy during the heart of the HF event, and Blackback was super chill later in the afternoon despite Imperial Citra still being on tap.

Cheers all around, and can't wait to be back.
