Hmm, so what you say here suggests you didn't really mean what you said below?

I'm a fan of pilsners, especially little yella pils. Schlafly pilsner is awesome but I live outside the distribution now, sadly, as they have lots of tasty beers. Prima pils is awesome but it's not typical of the style (it's still awesome tho!). So at least you're not alone out there....

    My comment, too was tongue-in-cheek.

The joke is: "Look at us, we've been successful by being brash*, ballsy*, and unconventional -- it's got to work everywhere, right?"

(*sorry, that may be redundant.)

Ahhh, you should take more care with how you indicate that since some people take what you say seriously.

One of the great things about pilsners is that they have that nostalgic "this is a beer, and this is what beer tastes like" factor, (which is the only thing that macro-lagers have going for them) but a well-made one with quality ingredients is endlessly better. It's like drinking a vastly improved version of the past.

Or use the Emoji that indicates an attempt at humor rather than than one that indicates one is not amused.

I'll admit I'm more inclined toward English and Belgian ales, but Pivo and Prima are both high on my list. Sadly, the name pilsner has been grossly misused by the likes of Miller Lite.

Quoting drtth from above, insert the correct American Adjunct Lager of your choice, and neither are (yet) Pilsners.

FW Pivo pils is a very very good beer.

Surprised no one has mentioned this one:

    North Coast Scrimshaw!

Best pilsner I've ever had. Smaller brewery so maybe only available in the westcoast.

The stigma of macro beers still haunt pilsners and lagers of all sorts. A good chunk of people literally think "lager" only means macro lager. Anything with any bolder flavors = ale. At least in Pennsylvania they associate the term with Yuengling, which (at least IMO) is a decent step-up and a hair more representative of what a lager can be.

And don't forget Lord Chesterfield Ale (which is an AAL despite the word "Ale" in the label name). I recently bought a 6-pack of Lord Chesterfield Ale and I had one last evening after cutting the lawn.

    "Brewery's Description:

One of our distinct classic beers brewed since 1829, Yuengling Lord Chesterfield Ale has as much rich heritage as it does flavor and appeal. Crafted in a unique two-stage European brewing style for enhanced bitterness, it utilizes both conventional kettle hopping and dry hopping after fermentation, resulting in a dry, sharp finish. Brewed with select hops, its distinct robust flavor is derived from a delicate combination of sweet maltiness and lingering herbal bitterness."

    Cheers!

I suppose, but wouldn't you think that when one takes the steps to become a beer enthusiast that losing that attitude should be one of the first ones?

ETA: when Michael Jackson placed the Czech Republic (then Czechoslovakia) the first "beer nation' you read about in his World Guide and Pocket Guide, I always thought he was making a subtle nod in that direction.

In a toast to this thread -- just had a Sierra Nevada Summerfest to launch the weekend. Still my pick over Nooner and while not exactly traditional to its European brethren, it's a a delicious drinker.
