@RyanMcFly1985 don't ever do that again!
Its one thing to hold up your end of the deal, but you have no responsibility in this type of situation. For the most part the type of people that get all upitty about others backing out on trades are the ones who are taking advantage of people. They get mad or defensive because in their mind the deal is done and they have already won the trade.

Well as of late last night, it's going to a guy who wants to try it and knows of the issues. It's not part of the deal. I just asked if he was interested in trying it, even with the issues, and he said yes. So it's going to him. I have no interest in trying it after what I read.

I think you should still PM me his name. He honestly does not sound like a trader that I would ever want to deal with.

Your right, he did not cheat you...He just screwed you over knowing the issues the beer had and did not bring it up to you until you did the due diligence...This is a community of good people...Your trading partner does not seem like good people...I just do not get anyone saying "hey, you hit the button its on you". Especially when this guy knows the issues and does not tell you...

Im sorry, if people want his name in PM, you should give it to them IMO...I never want to trade with someone who will Prey on the unsuspecting....God forbid he deals with a newb..

This may seem harsh, but I dont like these people in our community

Unless you agreed to the trade pre-release, info was readily available that this beer is, at best, highly controversial.

I considered several trades pre-release but what the beers were commanding was just more than I'm willing to give. Post release most of the traders got back to me with very generous offers.

I've never been so happy that my trading efforts came to naught. In this instance I agree with your trading partner. Unless the trade was arranged pre-release the info was out there & it's on you to determine if it's a beer you want to try or not. If it was a pre-release arrangement that's the roll of the dice. Some beers are good. Some just aren't. Again, I don't think he was unreasonable to expect you to follow through.

Infected beers are different, imo, because that's not just poor product, that's damaged product. Reputable breweries will often give refunds for beers known to be infected.

Personally, I'd let anyone back out of any trade if I haven't yet shipped. Like others have stated, I don't want to proceed with a trade that's going to leave someone feeling unhappy. However, once the trade has been accepted, that's a choice on my part, not an obligation.

OP, you handled the trade exactly right. Kudos! I also don't think it's sketchy that you offered it up for trade. Some beers just aren't good. People looking for the beer have that info available to them. The reviews can be found & read as easily as the trade forum. Some will still want to try it. Undoubtedly, some will like it.

I took an Upland Persimmon to a bottle share at a SP release. We'd had one & hated it. There was a nasty smell/taste of glue or solvent. I warned people prior to opening it & explained that my group really hated it. People loved it!!! I cautiously tried a sip. Solvent! *shrug*...beer. Who can explain it? (I brought other bottles, too. I took it to the share because I could warn people. It was so bad I wasn't willing to give it away as an extra.)

I will say this, it was a shitty feeling taking the box to Fed Ex bummed out about what I was giving up and what I was giving back. Again though, the info was out there. I should have seemed it out before posting. I did a poor job of taming my Bullfrog boner. Now I don't even care about those beers (even though I've heard the others are great). Just a bad taste in my mouth. It doesn't help that the box I sent out for Berry, Apricot, and Kriek was lost by Fed Ex, but that's another story. Let's just say I don't have much luck when it comes to trading for Bullfrog!

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, Bullfrog has definitely been unlucky for you.

I've had one beer from their Grrrz release last year & loved it. Other than the apricot I'm not hearing much good about the beers from the current release. It does sound like more time in the bottle will help most of them but CoP sounds hopeless & I don't think I'd like the Strawberry either. Capturing strawberry well is damned tough.

And I understand the Bullfrog boner. I hoped to make a pre-release trade & was prepared to give up a lot. It was my good fortune that the pre-release trades simply required more than I was willing to give up.

This release is a perfect example of how the 'price' or demand for a beer doesn't always correlate with bottle count or cost. Neither count not purchase price changed yet the beers values literally plummeted overnight. Hopefully, with additional time in the bottle, they'll improve considerably & see demand increase again.
