Odell IPA, Ska Modus H, Upslope IPA is also a treat. Mind the fact that there aren't that many Colorado breweries that come to Wyoming.

You're right, I'm probably being too harsh but I just wish someone in Colorado would throw that knockout punch when it comes to IPA's. I am most certainly an amateur in this realm but I wonder why can't a brewery in Colorado create a PsuedoSue or a Zombie Dust or a Sip of Sunshine style IPA? Or is it out there and I'm just completely missing it?

That brings up a good point. Aren't all of those really citra forward? Are there any co brews that are as well? If not, I wonder why?

To support the theory a little further, CO doesn't have a single IPA in the top 250 (upon very quick skim). I actually only saw 2 beers total.

I know that list isn't everything, but we obviously should give it some credit with the amount of time we spend on this site. It just seems crazy that a state that is considered one of the best beer states in the country can't produce a top notch IPA.

I think we have a few, but they're draft-only or limited production. Hence fewer ratings, no trade hype, and therefore no chance to move up in the top 250. That's actually what's holding back #'s from a lot of beers around here. If you take a look at the best beers in CO list, nearly every single one is packaged. CO is (mostly) a draft/premises state. Short of Superpower, when's the last time a draft-only beer got any attention?
Ratings only tell a certain story, much like GABF/WBC medals do. We DO have numerous IPA and strong pale ale medals in the state.

I asked that same question in a different thread! I received a small amount of responses like Backcountry Double IPA, one of Cannonball's IPA's and the IPA that Station 26 just released. Other than those I haven't heard much about citra IPA's in Colorado and that is by far my favorite hop which saddens me.

You nailed it. Look at Melvin's 2X4.(WY) 4.56 rating but so few ratings...

From my understanding (which may not be that reliable), it's very difficult to get your hands on enough Citra hops to make enough beer to warrant canning. Being in the NW really helps, but it's tougher to get those sought-after hops in bulk in Colorado.

I was told that Comrade has some great connections due to the brewer's history at Barley Browns and that's why they can get the varietals they have been getting. Still not likely enough to warrant canning (one can wish).

Once again, that could all be complete bullshit as I am sure @dauss will be able to shine more light on this

ISO btw. I haven't been able to find anything similar since moving away :/

Though Melvin 2x4 was close, as was Crux Half Hitch. But still...

I personally think there is one and its called Superpower by Comrade. Or Backcountry DIPA. Or even though it's not sexy and new, Odell IPA.

We have a ton of great IPAs, but too many transplants around here pine for the things they can't have.

Odell IPA is a staple in my fridge, but there aren't really a whole lot of other CO IPAs being bottled/canned that I find worth purchasing on a regular basis.

They make some really good IPA's - I had their Juicy Banger which was really good. I'd love it if more beer like that was available to buy at the store. I have a friend who lives in California and the amount of amazing IPA's they can buy is ridiculous. I'd love to be able to go to the store and buy a 4 pack of Modern Times Booming Rollers.

Totally agree about the overall lack of great IPAs/DIPAs here in Colorado. There are a few stand-outs, but otherwise it's pretty lackluster (especially for readily available packaged IPAs).

Comrade, Station 26, and Cannonball Creek make some excellent hoppy beers.
