I don't think that Collective is open on Sunday.

Another quick question about the area. Since we'll be driving all over the place, how do the tolls work? I'm only familiar with the tolls in Chicago (we don't have tolls here) where you either have to pay cash on the spot, or go online and fill out a form labeling every toll you missed and at what time (it's a huge pain in the ass). Is the Texas tollway system automated? Can I go online after the weekend is over and just search for my license plate?

Now that Collective Brewing is off the table for Sunday, I'm trying to figure out some place to hang out for the night. Looks like Community Beer isn't open on Sunday either, so we'll be there Saturday night. Anywhere in Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington worth hanging out on Sunday night?

Does Texas allow Sunday liquor sales? That might sound like a stupid question but Minnesota doesn't so thought I'd ask...

You will use Zip Cash for the tolls but you don't actually pay while driving...

Beer sales start Sundays at noon. I rarely go to bars on Sunday and don't know Arlington. There is a World of Beer out there though. Not my favorite place but you can look up their draft list online.

Traffic can be rough on Friday afternoon and getting to a game on time. Use Tollways as directed but don't expect those to be clear either. There is a ton of interest right now in the Rangers with several new players coming on strong. I expect this weekend the games will have high attendance. Have a good weekend here in Dallas.

Now if you can just bring us a keg of Todd the Axeman. Delicious. You guys are spoiled up there in MSP!

It's all automated, but you should check with your rental company. See also https://www.ntta.org/Pages/default.aspx

Any store that sells liquor (Specs, Total Wine, etc) will be closed on Sunday and closes at 9pm all other days. Grocery stores (Whole Foods, etc) can sell beer noon-midnight Sunday, 7am-midnight M-F, 7am-1am Saturday.

Will be driving our own vehicle. Do I have to pre-pay or can I pay online after the weekend is over by searching for my license plate?

Thanks for the tips about liquor stores vs grocery stores selling beer.

They have a "Zip Pass" now which basically looks like a more expensive way to pre-pay (and more suited to rentals), but it's not required. I think most people just wait for NTTA to bill them via mail and then pay.

This is correct. They'll bill you later. Take the tollroads.

Thanks for all the good advice. Caught this thread before my trip next week.

What do you guys think would be the best local Texas beers to try?

Four Corners brewing is open on Sundays, their porter is great. It is located right next to Trinity Groves which has a bunch of nice places to eat and drink, including LUCK, which is a beer based restaurant. Trinity Groves is right off of 75, and is not too far from the Ballpark.

Another option for BBQ is Lockharts, which is 2/3 as good with little to no line. It is only a few miles from Trinity Groves. Now I will say that I live, teach, work, and love Oak Cliff so my suggestions are a little biased.

I would say closer to 1/2. Pecan Lodge really competes with the best in TX and (having tried most of the "good" DFW BBQ) I was utterly disappointed with Lockhart.

That's disappointing to hear. I haven't had Lockhart yet, but Pecan Lodge is tied with La BBQ for #2 to me, second to Franklin.

Awesome! I didn't realize there was more than one location. We'll be passing through Lewisville between 3 and 4 PM this Friday, we'll definitely be stopping in!

What's the extra cost on the 32 ounce crowlers again?

The cans are $1.00 plus the beer for crowlers
