The only time I've seen the pilot batches have been in the tasting room. Not that it's impossible for it to have happened, but I'd be willing to bet the chance of the Bruery setting aside a single barrel for fermentation and storage, just to package for employee tasting and analysis to see how the beer develops in the bottle seems unlikely. They're figuring out how their beers will age along with us, there's no secret stash of '09 BT that was really made the year before :confused:

The June allocation period seems shorter than normal. Are we going to see something else later this month? Seems like they are really behind schedule.

Combination of first Monday falling on the 1st and it being only a 30 day month. Still three full weeks of allocations.

I just looked at my credit card account and the Bruery, unbeknownst to me and unsolicited by me, refunded me $23 on the 1st of the month.
While I never reported a bad bottle of Mash & Grind, @CommanderOfAwesome (whom I share my HS membership with) thinks this may be the shipping for the 12 bottle shipper that I used for that shipment.
    Anyone else have this happen?

You should probably ignore me, no one else has reported any tartness.

Anyone have an extra allocation of M12 they'd be willing to sell to a lowly Preservation Society member?

It's three weeks like it usually is, what's different?

It's a completely different base and adjuncts, no where near Cacaonut!

Not saying they don't, just that it wouldn't seem a likely scenario, especially considering it's barrel-fermented, as stated over and over and over and over again.

Yes I know is different adjunct (I would not go as far to say different base beers tho), but maybe it's that the description sounds so good that I hope it's everything it says.

Any here's the fantastic description on said beer

Cacaonut is a special treat. A rare and secret blend of several different barrel aged beers that we've pulled from our cellar along with toasted coconut and cacao nibs from San Francisco's TCHO.

We know the issue with that was the coconut, same issue they had with Mash & Coconut. Bottling fresh, unpasteurized coconut is just a disaster apparently.
Thankfully, there's no coconut in 12, so the risk from that is nonexistent.

But I guess I get what you mean with fearing it's going to end up having something wrong with it like Cacaonut, only I don't see that being an issue.

Buy em!! If you open a bottle and you don't like it, for whatever silly reason, you can flip it for some Midwest whalezbro

The issue for Cacaonut was likely the coconut, but there have been several other infection vectors, both due to adjuncts and infected base beers. Considering some of the barrels in the blend are up to 22 months old and could have theoretically been stored near sour barrels, and there are adjuncts in the beer, a concern about infection isn't unwarranted.

Hopefully @the_trystero was just served the wrong taster or something that would explain the tartness in this beer, I would be quite surprised if a beer that's sour right out of the gate got past the Bruery's QC process at this point. All the same, I'm curious to hear more tasting notes.
