Operations Manager in Hospitality

 

Full-time poor college student living off my GI Bill, majoring in Wildlife Science at Ohio State.

 

Cool idea for a thread. I'm a grad student at a school in Rapid City, SD and I mostly study cloud physics. Keeps the beer fridge stocked but not a whole lot else. Single guy priorities, ya know

 

Right now I work full-time as an assistant of sorts in the fish and marine invertibrates lab at my university's museum. However, I consider my true "career" to be "college student."

Working on my second bachelor's degree right now (first was English w/ Japanese minor), in biochemistry. I don't have the foggiest clue of what career I want after college... but most likely I'll continue into grad school after this. I LOVE studying biology and chemistry, after all.

 

Thank you for your efforts. I have a person with a disability asleep on me right now. (My son). I read BA so he falls asleep and I don't. :-)

I'm a Lutheran minister.

 

I am in IT. I make the email go for several large companies. It is cool and they pay me for it. So.... win, win.

 

How's the pay? I'm thinking it's time for a change in careers and I like the sound of it. Hours must be awesome, not to mention the short commute.

Spirits/beer associate at a Total Wine and I've never loved going to work more. I mean sure I deal with whiney and entitled alcoholics on a daily basis but you could say something to that effect at any retail job.

I'm a high school drop out (couldn't get myself to care at the time) and I have very few college credits to my name, so while I'm not exactly making six figures, I've found a place where I can earn a living doing something that I'm passionate about and serves as a gateway into a field that I wouldn't mind ending up in.

And I'm now a Certified Beer Server, which is neat and get an allotment of free beer every month because my company likes Certified Beet Servers. And within a couple years I'd love to upgrade myself to Certified Cicerone and who knows maybe even Master Cicerone one day....but I hear tell that test is a bitch and a half, so we'll see

 

Doctoral student! As one could tell, I do not make 110k+ot

 

Graduate student of European history looking to go for my PhD so I can become a college professor. I've done and am going to do more research on the history of beer too!

Cheers to all the other academics who've posted here! Grad students, keep at it. I'm designing my first graduate course from scratch right now, in preparation for teaching it in the fall; my own slog through grad school was not so long ago, so I hope the memories will make me a better teacher.
