This year seems especially spicy. Last year's seemed especially balanced. I can definitely taste all the elements, but am a bit of a spice fiend. The heat is definitely the most front forward element this year.

I'm debating about the Mexican cake party..pricy but worth it IMO. Anybody hitting this up? Wife doesn't like the cake so it's not worth it for her to go and don't wanna rock it alone.

I probably won't. Wednesday's are hard days for me to get away. Besides, I've had 5 of the 7 mentioned, and I'll get to try the the Tequila version in the next month. I'll save my $91.52 (ticket plus fees) for the next round of BA Cakes.

I would really like to do the cake party too but a Weds makes it tough, and for me to justify the spending ~$90 I'll end up drinking enough to have me in rough shape the next day which just isn't the best idea with work. I'll be alright missing it

The 3 mystery kegs do have my attention though...

Wonder why they are doing on a school night versus a Friday or Saturday?

Probably to discourage others with my mentality of drinking what I think it's worth. A weekend would probably turn into a shitshow as it got later. A pour of all 10 beers at 10% would do work on me.

As a complete degenerate, I plan on going.

Yet you can by 2 year old BA bottles at the brewery for $150.

I'm not complaining...the $80 '14 Tequila BA bottle we got last weekend was phenomenal. Just saying that it's amusing they write that on the bottle and then age the bottles themselves.

I'm considering doing the Cake event at Edmunds Oast, can't talk any of my friends into going though. Still considering.

Also, I often age beers that people say not to, and often I enjoy them more than the fresh versions. Coffee stouts are an excellent example; I've aged BCBCS, WnB, and FBS. I prefer all of them with age to fresh. Sometimes muting the adjunct flavors allows some other of the other flavors to come out, which can be a good thing. Haven't tried with Cake, but plan to.

I've had a few of the BA variants and they were all fantastic. However, there is a big difference in aging a normal Mexican Cake that has been packaged vs aging in barrels in a controlled/observed environment that will eventually be blended together into a final product.

He means the brewery held on to some BA bottles packaged in September 2014 and is selling them for 5x more than they originally sold for at the brewery in June 2015 (when it says do not age and drink fresh).

I misread that then. Thanks for the clarification.

This year's cake is much more heat forward than previous years. It actually dominates the beer and, to me, takes away from the overall balance that is generally present in fresh cake bottles. I got little to no vanilla from this as well. By far the worst year of Mexican Cake if you ask me.

It's returning to Europe this year, after we missed out on the 2014.

I was in London a few weeks ago and saw bottles of Westbrook. It wouldn't surprise me if some was allocated to Evil Twin to send overseas.

Is anyone willing to trade a Mexican Cake for 1-2 2015 KBS?

Lol,, there isn't anything of any flavor on the shelf here. It's listed, but it's not. But it's in London, go figure.

I'll be nice and not flame you for posting in the wrong forum, but I will flame you for such a lowball offer. Cake pulls a lot more in value than you think.
