Because it is Philly Beer Week, you can still find a decent amount of post-event, leftover Carton, Kane and Pizza Boy throughout the city and surrounding suburbs. Try PhillyTapFinder.com or BeerMenus.com to search for each.

Pizza boy is two hours west of Philly. Kane and Carton about two hours east. If you are looking for a brewery to drink at which outclasses all three - Tired Hands about a half hour to 45 minutes outside of Philly. You also have Yards in Philly and Forrest and Main north of Philly about 30 minutes.

Kane and Carton for sure. Besides the above-mentioned amazing IPAs at Kane, Carton is basically a living room with taps, has a crazy $5 for $35oz of samples deal, sells Boat and 077xx in cans, and has some waxed prefilled growlers of BA and sour stuff usually. Plus Augie is the fucking man.

I would have to vote Kane and Carton. Combined, their beers are definitely better than Pizza Boy

Go to Forest and Main in Ardmore. Best brewery in PA, IMO

I was there on a Sunday in early May, and all they had was 077xx in cans. But they did fill my non-Carton growler with Boat beer.

Yea, Caton does not alway have cans. They can ~1 a month and the cans last about 2 weeks. But they will fill any growler, doesn't have to be Carton branded

To help make your decision, maybe add in Other Half to your Carton/Kane run. If they have a can release at 10am, get there early, get some cans, enjoy a pint and then head over to Carton/Kane. They do growlers as well. Make it a full day beer adventure! Grab some Singlecut as well!

Carton/Kane, then into Brooklyn? Well that would be a full day. Enjoy the traffic, especially the drive back to Philly after that day....

There is a TON of Black Sour left. When I was there earlier this week there was one lonely bottle of Raspberry Sour on the shelf to-go. As others have said, the tap list at Al's/Pizza Boy is tough to beat. He even has Tired Hands on tap, so you can check that off your list too if you go.

That being said, if you're heading towards Pizza Boy you could also hit up Troegs in Hershey, you'll pass the general area on your way to Pizza Boy.

Also, as a really good bottle shop to stop at, Mari's Six Pack N Mor in Reading, PA is a great place to stop off the turnpike.

Go to Brooklyn first, then to Carton/Kane. No matter which way the OP comes from Philly, he'll deal with shore traffic. If he drives up early to get to Other Half, he could beat some traffic and obtain some sought after beers...if they have a can release/he gets there a decent time. Then he could head over to Carton/Kane when they open.

I haven't been to Pizza Boy but Troegs is a beautiful brewery! A really huge area to eat and drink beers. Great food too! Very kid friendly! Plus there is plenty to do nearby. Chocolate World is free and great! Of course Hershey Park and there are also outlet stores to shop at...all on the same road.

It's still hours and hours of driving on terrible roads. Or, the OP could just hang out in Philly, drink Russian Rivers, Tired Hands, and bottle of Cantillon, and have a bowl of mussels. Seems like a pretty simple choice.

I'm with you on that! It is a lot of driving, for sure and neither are easy trips from Philly. But we all have a beer bucket list and those must be the OP's. I'd look into making pit stops at key bottle shops on the way up to get something he couldn't get normally. Or get some pre-trip trades going to make it easier on himself. Or even hit up some online resources and have them shipped to himself or where he is staying.

It also depends on the family, size and their willingness. Me, my wife and 2 kids are cool with my beer adventures. My 2 kids did the tour with us at Dogfish and was with us at Troegs. I've taken my son to Other Half can releases. Thankfully, they all fit with kids (soda at Dogfish, good food/hershey at Troegs and donuts were passed out at Other Half).

I'm heading to the jersey shore last week in June for a family reunion vacation. I'm already planning on what I'm bringing so I don't have to do anything on the way down. I may stop at Carton/Kane since we are going down that way and can't check in until 3pm. So it would break up the ride a bit and allow me to visit.

I wouldn't put any of those on a bucket list. Just some I'd like to check out . I'm already doing the Philly thing. It's just the day I get to myself I'd like to do something a little different. Driving isn't an issue. I drive to Asheville a couple times a month which is a 7 hour round trip.

Lots of other great options have been mentioned that I hadn't thought of. Thanks a lot for all the input. I really do appreciate it.
