What are you doing, hurling these packs of cans around like a shotputter? I've never seen one fall apart on any pack of cans.

Not at all. They literally fell apart as I lifted them from the shelf, once at Vendome Pasadena and once at Whole Foods Arroyo. The guy at Vendome said that was at least the fourth time he'd watched it happen. My guess is that they're not really designed for pint cans.

Agreed, I've had two different packs fall apart from just picking them up to check the canned on date. Missing the hard plastic can rings.

I had a four pack fall apart on me as well last weekend. Was just holding in my hand and 2 fell out, 1 hit the pavement pretty hard and dented. Just lucky it didn't pop open.

Really happy to see the August event since I sadly can't make the anniversary.

Also, if anyone is looking for the vanilla rum monsters park I have an extra and I'm trying to grab the coconut and cacao since I missed out on it.

Dude you need to relax on your lifting technique. I've bought two 4 packs with no issues. I like the old ones better though. I make them into cars for my kid.

I saw someone do that at vendome a few shares ago, was probably you. But I agree I prefer those hard plastic ones, they looked cool too.

Looks like I'm going against the grain here, but I wasn't too into the rum barrel aged beers. I thought, sans carb issues with the first round, both rounds of bourbons were fantastic. I still have moist dreams over the second round.

While I do not really care for rum, I thought the rum did absolutely nothing to mellow adjunct flavors in these beers. The vanilla was way too harsh. It tasted like a spiked creme soda, almost to the point of undrinkability. The straight rum one was decent enough, but tasted thin. It reminded me of the very first MP bourbon that I had on tap, where I thought it could get to where it needed to be, but wasn't there yet. The coconut one was good if you like hammered in the face with coconut. I'm not a huge coconut fan, but do enjoy some coconut flavor in beer from time to time (the bourbon coconut was fantastic), but with the rum doing nothing to cut the coconut, it was a bit much for me. Definitely my favorite out of the three.

When I went on Friday, they no longer had the coffee rum, and were subbing it with the coffee bourbon. To me, this just confirmed how much better the bourbon ones were compared to the rum ones. I don't think I need to say which glass was gone first and left me wanting to pull an Oliver.

I'm going to wait until more information comes out but it seems like with these sessions, they should have certain things saved for each session. Or each session will have something great. I don't think it's like...if you don't make it to the first session, you're going to have to drink whatever is leftover.

LOL, maybe that's why the guy at the liquor store I bought pack from looked sorta suprised when I told him I didn't need a bag....

Last year it was a party at Lomaland one day and a party at the Flavordome the next. If they do that again it should definitely be different kegs for each day.

Also: really hoping they do that again, since walking home from the Flavordome is a bit easier for me to do than walking home from Lomaland

Nice. I was hoping that some people who went last year would weigh in.

I'd be a bit weary of walking home from Lomaland, even if it's just over to the Old Town transit center. Some real shady characters near that area. One mid afternoon a few years when I was making a run to Fuller Liquor, I had some guy start screaming at me for apparently having screwed him over on his life.

I gotta say I don't like the soft plastic rings either. I've lifted up a 4pk to check the date and a can fell out and another time they broke when the cashier scanned the cans. I've learned to handle them very gently.

I did this after the anniversary party last year. Would have taken an uber in hindsight.

When I drink Booming Rollers and Oneida, I notice there is some sort of lack of "depth" at the very back end of the sip. Is this due to very little malt presence in these beers?
