Here in NJ we have a club called the NJCB (New Jersey Craft Beer) (Membership Club). It costs $25/year and you can get discounts in over 500 places in the state. Discounts like: $1 off 1/2 growlers, $2 off growlers, 10% off entire bills at restaurants, food and drink, 10% off craft beer at liquor stores, 6 pack and bomber discounts, happy hour specials, home brew supplies, discounts on BEER FEST tickets! ($10+) etc., etc.. I save enough $ just on growlers to pay for the card each year. I go to a few beer fests a year that puts me over the top. http://155nmd3jnj8c41bv6015gjrhrn6.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/NJCB_Business_Partners.pdf How about the other 49 states? Any beer discounts? Clubs?
I haven't seen such a thing where I live, but to be honest I haven't looked. A quick googling leads me to believe there aren't any clubs like that here. Too bad, as it sounds like a good idea for the serious beer enthusiast.
Nothing like that in Ohio, absolutely illegal. There are far fewer places in this country where this legal than places where it is. I suspect this would be legal in Illinois, California, Arizona and Oregon.
There is one here in Michigan call "I'm a beer hound". Based in the Lansing area but had lots of options in Grand Rapids and others around the state. I don't go out nearly enough to justify the $20 or $25 fee. A lot of the discounts are like $1 off your first beer or 10% off food etc. With a toddler and another one on the way I just don't go out drinking enough. Or they few places I would go to have other normal specials I like better.
Yep, I remember when we had little ones. I barely drank at all and went out even less. Now I've got one in college and one in high school. My wife and I actually get to go out on a pretty regular basis.
Out in California, we have the Bruery that charges $300 for the year for the upper echelon membership and Rare Barrel, a sour specialist in Berkeley, California that also charges $300. Interesting differences. What you get with the Bruery is remarkable however. The rare beers are too fun.
I knew I was going to be in nj for 8 months so I bought my 2015 card..and I swear it paid for itself before feb
I get similar discounts because I am a member of a local homebrewing group. I usually save enough money using the discount to pay for the card plus I get to attend the events so its a win win.
NJCB member and use it at least once a week. Pays for itself before Spring and I like that I get updates on all the NJ craft events.
