Going to New Glarus this weekend. Stopping at 3 Floyds for lunch on the way there. Going to Madison for a day or two. Was wondering what bars/stores are a must stop in or near Madison and New Glarus/Madison. Of course I am going to New Glarus Brewery. Also for a bonus, my wife has Celiacs so no wheat for her, are there any good cider breweries or gluten/free restaurants in either place. Thanks
No – Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin are are in the Great Lakes region, as defined on BA. OP, there are a wealth of threads in this forum with information about the best bars and stores to hit in the Madison / New Glarus area – just do a search. As far as avoiding gluten, most of the better restaurants in Madison (and there are a lot of them) have an awareness of that issue and can provide gluten-free options.
Where are you staying in Madison? There are quite a few equivalent stores depending on the part of town you'll be staying in. Madison is pretty gluten-free friendly in general, especially at downtown restaurants, but I'd recommend Brasserie V. They have a expansive craft and Belgian beer menu and should have some interesting ciders or gluten-free beers for her to try, and the food is great.
