You misunderstood his post. He was saying he was hoping it would be as laid back and easy to obtain as last release (Wild Bitter) was. Now that it's a gueze, we all know that's not gonna be the case.

I meant I don't think we'll get lucky and have this release be super easy. I knew it was a Geuze when I wrote that. Ease of acquisition will be even less so with BB Kriek, especially if it's GTMW time.

I read the post right. I was expounding on the fact that we are lucky that it will be Gueuze. I am a huge fan of the style and look forward to trying the next batch of R&D Gueuze. The original batch of R&D Gueuze from 2010 was excellant and just kept getting better. If a bunch of people show up, that just means more people to bottle share with. Craft beer will always have rediculious lines when good beer is being released in limited quantity.

I am new to Wisconsin. I'll be there Saturday for sure and I'll bring some cool southern brews to share around. Also if there are any tasting groups in the Madison area, I'd be really interested in joining.

Hmm ok, than you responded wrong lol. You made it sound like he wasn't aware it was a gueze. Anywho, doesn't really matter. Hope to meet some new folks and share some beers.

How early do you suppose someone would have to be up there to walk away with beer? Sadly I have meetings Thursday afternoon so thats a no go.

No one knows. It could be okay getting there at 9 when they start selling, it might not be okay at 6. It's completely up in the air. All that is known is that Saturday will almost certainly be the earliest day. Honestly, I wouldn't guess that you'd need to arrive before 8 at the very earliest Thursday and Friday, but that's probably wishful thinking. Really, no one can tell you.

Considering how the last release went, and how by now most folks just don't have a random Thursday (especially) or Friday to take off, those days will be your best bet. Saturday will probably get hairy.

I was there today and there were cases of Wild Bitter left, I'm confident it will be still available on Thursday.

Speculating about showing up several hours early and not getting an allotment it just going to turn this into more of a shit show than necessary. There is no way that it will be worse then Great Taste weekend releases. The most crowded releases they've done were the wild peach during Great Taste last year, when the absolute most amount of people are nearby. Even on those days you could show up an hour after the release every day and get a full allotment.

If you show up at open for this release, my guess is that you will be waiting in a little bit of a line but you'll be fine.

This! On Saturday for the Wild Peach release everybody initially in line made it through and then Deb stood outside the front steps handing out tickets to people that showed up late. I believe they finally ran out sometime around 10:30-11.

So honestly, there's no reason to get there before dawn unless you plan on doing some bottle sharing. I'll be there around 8am like last summer, and it will be a piece of cake.

On a separate note, I have an R&D Geueze from the 2010 release. Anybody want to volunteer a bottle of their new Geueze to do a side by side?

Two questions and any help would be much appreciated.

    1. How early do you ususally have to get there on Saturday for the releases?
    2. Do you think Wild Bitter will last till this weekend.

Literally the last several comments would give you some insight as to how early you may need to show up. In the end though, no one knows. Check here to see how Thurs and Friday goes then make your decision. As already pointed out though, even with their largest prior releases you could show up at or just after opening and have no problem getting an allotment.

    2. I seriously doubt it. The remnants will probably be picked up by those coming for the new release on Thursday and Friday, and not likely to last to Saturday.
