Sounds like they priced 'em like 90 Minute.

Did you just stand there smiling or what?

When I see that a cashier, clerk or waitstaff makes a mistake, even in my favor, I point it out and pay the correct price. WOO HOO!! I'm an honest grown up that doesn't think mistakes should come out of the pay of a minimum wage worker.

In before the "I'm a better person than you because I would've told somebody about it" post.

    EDIT: Damn.

Did it occur to you, as RC51Mike says, that any shortages in the cash drawer have to be reconciled (made up) by the cashier? When they get that till, there's a certain amount of cash in it. When they turn it back in, the cash has to match the receipts, or they have to make it up. If not, the owner/manager may suspect the cashier is pocketing the loss. They can then be fired or, in some cases, charged with theft if the owner decides to call the cops. WOO HOO!

I didn't notice till later. I was distracted at the register. I had over 50 dollars of other stuff with the 120s and my daughter was begging for some gum.

A "better person" probably wouldn't have created a thread about it.

If they were rung up at $2.49, and he paid, $2.49, then there would be no shortage

What if they scanned the beer and it rang up at $2.50 each? I'm not saying it's the moral thing to do, but it may not have affected the employee if it was entered incorrectly into their computer in the first place.

    EDIT: Beat me to it!

Maybe not a screw up, but a bit of good luck I had last week. I was at Whole Foods in Atlanta buying a bottle of 2011 Angel's Share. Cashier couldn't get the barcode to scan and so I told her it was $14.99. She tried to scan the barcode a few more times with no luck, and scanned my girlfriend's 24 oz. PBR instead and said "Happy weekend." Good people.

The cashier scans everthing, so it was not on him.

Ah, then it's simply too late to do anything about it. No one truly expects you to return to the store to reconcile the mistake.

Is this a store that you typically frequent? I'm sure it isn't often that people buy 5x 120 Minutes at a time (that's like 10 hours of beer!).

    Sigh. Where's the "Dislike" button?

Your post doesn't make sense. If the scanner read it as the wrong beer, how's that the cashier's fault, and how would that cause a shortage in his/her register?

My local store had a tag on the shelf advertising a 20% Struise sale which had expired and they had not took down. They honored the 20% off anyway. Tender loaded up on 20% off Pannepots. Whoot Whoot!

My recommendation: Bring it up to the manager at the store. He'd likely thank you kindly for pointing out such a glaring error in their pricing system.

There's a store I go to, where the owner will sometimes just give me bottles or scan a Victory V12 instead of a pricy Belgium. Another, the manager there will give me his employee discount.

If you get to know people and show that you are a loyal customer that doesn't just chase each hyped release beer karma falls your way naturally

This was not one of my regular stores. If it was I would tell them about it when I went back. They were the last 5 anyway.
