Poll: How hardcore into beer are you?

Not quite Hustler hardcore, but raunchier than Playboy.

 

I said 8, I´m not into making long lines or chasing trucks.

 

Just went on a weekend camping trip with my family and a buddy's family. He used to work for Oscar Blues and does a lot of home brewing, but I quickly realized that I like to talk beer way more than he does or that I thought he would want to. We did split a Chocolate Rain and the new Avery Raspberry Sour though that I brought along, both were fantastic! Had to change up my conversational strategy when I noticed him getting a bit bored answering all of the beer questions I fired at him. I'd say I'm a 7 or 8. However I am aspiring to get to a 5 or 6 considering all the money I have been spending as of late trading, hitting local breweries (trying to get to all of them in a local 70 mile radius, still way behind!) and chasing big beers.

 

5 - I homebrew and won't drink crappy beer, but I don't trade, travel for beer, or have hops tattooed anywhere on my body.

 

I like to think of it as that I've retained the knowledge from my earlier days, but left behind the enthusiasm. Those were some very formative years that shaped my palate, but I'm just not going to drive 1000 miles for beer anymore.

I gave myself 4 for my BA credentials plus 5 for my interest in, and my time, money, and energy spent homebrewing.

 

5 I'd say. I don't spend a ton of money compared to most (more than the average person, but less than most enthusiast), don't travel specifically for beer and despise having to hunt for a beer. Also prefer discussing beer much more than reviewing it.

I gave myself a 7 because I'm almost a mirror image of you except I don't have a beer fridge. Of course, 25% of my fridge is storing imperial stouts for aging, but technically that's just good fridge management, not a separate fridge.

I'd like to find out specifically what we're hardcore about.

for me I'm hardcore about local brewery releases, trying new beers, and visiting new breweries. on the other hand, I'm not so much into obsessing about the top 250 or rating beer on BA.

 

I rarely drink at bars and haven't gone to a brewer for a limited release. I am otherwise fanatical.

I follow stores, breweries, and distributors on social media. I have only traded a few times. I have bought stuff online a few times. I always buy stuff when I travel.

I guess I'm a 9?

 

I envisioned myself an "8", or as Michael Scott would call it...

Hardcore Level Midnight

Thinking I'm about a 7.5 in reality - I'm too indulgent to be Midnight Level material...

 

I'm pretty hardcore in general, so I assume I'm pretty hardcore in my beer pursuit too. 7.

 

I enjoy beer so much I moved to Germany

 

I will try any beer (that I have not had before) but I am a little bit finicky so I put 8.

 

I feel as if I have a problem and recently have felr guilty abt the lengths I go to get new beer. So 10.

 

7. I don't quite travel exclusively for beer, but I go out of my way to get it, sometimes.

And I probably spend more on it than I should
