I'm guessing Thursdays will be the most laid back for all of the R&D releases this year. Looking forward to making some donut holes, picking up some coffee, and hanging out with family and friends for a few hours. I think we're planning on leaving Cottage Grove around 7am.

How does sharing beer work at these releases? Simply a line share before doors open? Is it shunned upon to pop a few things inside (or outside) post-purchase? And, since I'm bombing y'all with questions, what's the food situation like around these parts?

Actually, yeah, I'll second that part - any good lunch recommendations for some good eats nearby post beer-pickup?

It isn't frowned on to beer share but it is frowned on to leave bottles laying around. So pick up after yourself and no problem!

My last trip I went to Sugar River Pizza and was very pleased. Pizza and wings were great and they had bottles of Sosus for sale so got an extra bonus that day! Would highly recommend and I will probably be eating lunch there Thursday and Friday!

This is false. I showed up well before they opened on Friday and struck out.

Maybe you were looking in the wrong place then? Not sure about Saturday, but I was there last year on Friday and watched people walk up at least half an hour after they opened and still get bottles.

Couldn't be. I also arrived at 9:35, and they were sold out. It was a very somber feeling driving all the way up and striking out by probably 20 minutes. (Last year the "gates opened" at 10)

But seriously, let's pretend that wasn't the case and not make this a shit show (without GToMW there's no way this weekend will be that bad again).

Friday was definitely the busiest day for the wild peach release. Sat/sun were a lot more laid back and bottles lasted until after everyone went through the line but still sold out that afternoon.

Friday was a shit show for the peach. There was no line after the tickets were handed out and the only thing that I got that indicate that I got a ticket was the ticket itself, and maybe a wristband. I have no doubt in my mind that as soon as the line dissolved people double dipped just by walking up to Deb or whoever was handing out tickets on the front steps. I skipped Saturday and went on Sunday and it was a world of difference and much more organized. They made everyone stay in line, and used wristbands and sharpies to try to keep people to the one allotment per person. I honestly don't think Friday was any busier, just a lot less of an absolute cluster fuck. I got there shortly after 9am and was lucky enough to be in the low 700s. Tickets were gone by 9:30 for sure.

I assume this release will be busier than the wild bitter, but not nearly as busy as the peach last year during the great taste. I doubt that bottles will sell out on Thursday.

Have they confirmed the bottle count for the upcoming release?

Same here, I got there around 9:10ish and was 726/750. Tickets didn't last much longer after that...

Another factor that I believe made the peach release extra busy was the fact that VSB came right before it and traded exceedingly well. Hopefully now people see that VSB was an anomaly and calm the hell down.

My goal is to show up around the time they start selling bottles on Thursday but I don't know when that actually is...sometime between 9 and 10 if past history is an indication?

For Wild Bitter it was 10am. They did start early on Saturday, as the above said...it's 9am this time

Sorry to be stupid, but what social media are they using? The Facebook page seems to no longer exist (like a number of liquor stores I know, did Facebook shut them down for some weird alcohol related reason?) and I don't see an official twitter account. I'd like to know where to go to get the official scoop these days.

That's weird, dude; it's not gone (and neither are the liquor stores I'm guessing you have on FB). Must be something on your end.

It was FB that they announced that through.

Are you out of country? I know the local internet in Afghanistan blocked any alcohol related FB pages. I could never see New Glarus' page unless I was on a different computer.
