Two locals that come to mind are Olde Hickory's Bourbon County Brand and Event Horizon '10.

Bourbon County Brand was a barrel aged barleywine that came out in 2007 and was a mile ahead of my palate at the time. So, that coupled with the $15 price tag gave me absolutely no reason to buy it. It was also ahead of NC's palate as a whole, so whatever (relatively) small quanitity they did make was gathering dust on shelves for 3 years.

Then... event horizon '10 happened. I knew it was coming, and I even liked bourbon barrel aged beers at that point and was warming up to barleywines, but still... that $15 for Bourbon County Brand seemed crazy to me. Event Horizon comes out and there it is in the cooler at the Tap Room. Easily 4-5 cases of it just sitting there. "I'll pick some up eventually" I think to myself, "no reason to buy it today". A couple days later I come back and it's completely gone... And I find out after having on draft that it is completely amazing. Don't feel sorry for me though, because I did get to enjoy it on draft for the next few months after the release. Also too, once Event Horizon vanished, folks across the state noticed what Olde Hickory was doing and Bourbon County Brand disappeared shortly thereafter. I should have 10+ bottles of each!

Fortunately I pulled the trigger with EH'11. I drug my feet on Lindley Park, but I trucked it up the mountain and Peabody's hooked me up.

Mine would have to be Rare I already had one bottle, but I found a hole in the wall liqour store in Indy that had one bottle left. My cash was a little low that week so I thought well I will come back next week it will probably be there, came back a week later and it was gone.

Juliet. Some places around me just got a bunch a few weeks ago but I dramatically decreased my spending so I didn't get any.

Cantillon (kind of). Couple years ago a few stores had multiple bottles of Lou Pepe, Iris, and Classic. I got a total of 4 or 5 but could have got a few more but I just assumed they would still be on the shelf or they would get more.

No. I always pull the trigger. Life is too short to have beer regrets.

Mine would be more king henry. Got 4 bottles (2 drank, 1 traded, 1 extra'd) could have easily gotten up to a case if I wanted it. Didn't think it'd be worth it at the time :flushed:

For consumption reasons- I should have bought more La Terrior & BCBS.
for value reasons- I should have bought PiaPT and Cantillon when they were common shelf turds.

Crazy distribution you've got, if you had an opportunity to purchase all those beers.

Last December I was making the rounds of a few of the bottle shops I frequent, stocking up for the next 6-8 weeks. At the next to last shop I found a lone bottle of King Henry on one of their bomber racks. Having read the threads here extolling its awesomeness a few weeks earlier I hadn't even bothered to look for it at any of the other places, assuming it had all been snatched up already. Needless to say I grabbed that one bottle and left with a smile on my face. I then went to one last shop for a final 6-pack, a small place that's actually the closest to where I live. It's got the smallest craft selection of all the places I go, so imagine how hard my jaw hit the floor when I walked past their bomber racks and saw 8 bottles of KH! Having already spent over $100 that day, my inner Scrooge got the better of me and I talked myself out of buying even 1 or 2 more bottles, rationalizing that I'd never had it and might not like. Well, around two months later, after I finally cracked that one KH at a poker party/beer tasting and had maybe a 1/3 of the bottle, that little nagging doubt about not having bought more exploded into full blown REGRET. It would have been so worth the additional $22 or so for 2 more bottles! Sigh.

Saw Sucaba at a store down the Jersey Shore while I was on vacation a few weeks ago and for some inexplicable reason I did not buy it.

A few years ago some lonely KBS bottles were sitting on a shelf at 4 bucks a pop, and I didn't buy them, now I might pay twice that if I had to. Such a hard get in NC.

Before I started getting into gueuze and lambics, I saw about 10 bottles of Cantillon Classic but I already had like $100 of stuff so I said I would wait until next time I went. Not a single bottle to be found less than a week later. I wish I would have bought every singe one now.

I saw a Bier De Mars - Grand Reserve on the selves at store in Maine and it sat there for a few weeks. I was kind of broke at the time, and when I went in to finally buy it was gone. I really wish I had bought it.

-Sorry... I'm an idiot, I was reading about BCBS in another thread and it crossed my brain up. It was Bardstown Brand that was the barleywine they came out with in '07.

-Just drank the last of the 2 bottles I owned last month and it was glorious.

(Why can't you edit old posts, but you can with new ones?)
