New Glarus 2015 R&D

Such an awesome day...stopped by with the wife around 11-1130ish, ran in, grabbed our bottles, (5 minutes tops) and then hiked New Glarus woods across the street (feet were soaked by the end of the hike). Headed to Wisconsin Brewing Co. (never been there) and had their 12 beer flight. Stopped at Rushing Waters for late lunch on the way home...fantastic time!!!

 

For those that are attending tomorrow, I'm bringing a cooler full of TG to open drink or trade. Send me a message if you can't find me.

Quick question, cellar or fridge for these beers? I only ask because abv is about borderline.

So what's the line like today? Longer than yesterday? Think it will last throughout the day again?

It must have since no one mentioned they didn't get any. I believe it was mentioned on Thur morning that more is available today compared to last two days.

 

Everyone had their beer by 9:15. NG did a great job as usual! Plenty left.

Can anyone there confirm if it's still available? Someone on CCBE is saying it sold out half an hour ago.

 

ABV is not the best marker for cellaring. It's more about style than anything. Saisons, wilds, lambics, berliner weiss, gose, and gueuze (probably among others that I'm forgetting) are all great styles for cellaring despite their relatively low ABVs (generally). Other styles great for cellaring like imperial stouts, barleywines, old ales, dubbels, tripels, and quads are great for cellaring and happen to have high ABVs.

Otherwise, my rule for fridge or not is based on the contents of the beer. If it's hoppy or has adjuncts/additives (coffee, cacao, spice, etc.), fridge is best.

Cooler temps equal slower aging is the bottom line.

Long story short, cellar is fine for this release.

 

I'd be very surprised if that was the case. Didn't appear to be more than 500 people max there this morning. Assumed that there was more than 1500 left since it didn't sell out Thursday or Friday, so I highly doubt it sold out. You could just call and ask.

 

Sounds like that place is filled with trolls. Again, this should last the day.

 

Left there about 15 minutes ago. Still saw wristbands being handed out to arriving people.
