Dark Horse Crawfish Boil

Can anyone comment on the bottle situation? Debating running up to grab a few bottles but don't want to waste a trip

 

3 leg is out, 6 is soon to follow as of 12:18

 

It is pricey, even in the realm of high end syrup. But I wanted to try it. Didn't disappoint. Tried a little and it has a nice little bourbon flavor with a rich maple taste.

With they could figure out a cost effective way to do the little bottles like at Cracker Barrel. Could pick up a pack of them and put them in with trades.

 

Did you get 3 leg?

 

Anybody know why they made so much more of the double barrel variety?

 

Nothing to back this up, just guessing

1. They just happened to have more maple syrup barrels instead of the regular bourbon barrels.
2. Higher price, make more of the one that will make you more money.
3. Something happened to more of the 3leg.

 

I had a bottle of the syrup in my hand and set it down, picked up an orvel and a rochefort 10 instead on the way home as well as an old stock 15 and a best by and best after. Along with all the legs my budget for all things beer is gone for the weekend! Nice to meet you jmorey, nice looking haul you walked away with as well!

 

How many folks were in line when they started selling bottles at 10:00AM?

Really great to meet you too. Glad tou recognized me. The syrup was a splurge, didn't need it for sure. My local store posted they had cellared '13 Orvel. But I wasn't going back by there...sadly. Doubt t will last til Monday.

 

Got the first 4 pack out of the last case. Hooray for speeding!

 

Based on the stated 174 4-packs of 3 Legs, and that they ran out of it about 50 people before me (I got there are 10:15), there must have been 174+50=224 people in line at 10:00 or before me. It was almost 2 hours to get thru that line for my 4-pack of 6-Legs! There was still some 6 Legs left at 2:15 when I came back for the brewery to have some crawfish.

 

In line at 9:45. I'm now "that guy" IP for one @Mothergoose03? 3 of my 4 are shipping out Monday, I'll give up my last one to statisfy a true BA though

 

You mean I could have went through the line again for another pack of 6 legs... Damn

 

I almost did, but I was hungry. So I stood in line again in that same damn parking lot for 1.5 hours this time for some of those crawdads. They had plenty of them when I went thru, but I'll be damned if I was going to stand in like again for seconds.

 

I'll keep that in mind for next time on the food.

Should put the band out in the parking lot for how much time people spent out there.

I don't want to be "that guy" and go through the beer line again, but I would have spread the love around up here for some others. Since we got such a small amount, I dont know if I will be letting any go.

 

They did have a young lady chasing beer for those who were in line so long that their beer cup somehow became empty. (All of us.)

 

Yes. The older tall guy that had the '99 Crawfish Boil shirt on while filling the 3 leg/6 leg orders told us that we could get back in line after we bought ours. I had my 13 yr old daughter with me & she said she would wait with me again but I figured 1.5hrs or so was enough for her to wait for beer so I passed. I missed on the 3 legs but I think that I still have a bottle left from '13 4 Elf party

 

On one hand that would have been good to know it was okay. On the other hand, glad I wasn't tempted to wait again, I had to take off.

 

Opened up a 6legs tonight since there was more of that to go around

A bit hot right now, booze was overpowering a lot of other flavors. Creamy. If you said it was a stout (albeit a slightly thinner one) I'd believe it more than a porter. Good maple flavor, although I'd love even more. Booze made it feel more than 8.5%

Might need to try a little of the bourbon syrup in one.

All in all I am glad I made it down to get some. And that it had more of the barrel and bourbon flavors. even if it needs to mellow out a bit, since tres didn't pick up as much.

Maybe somebody else can help with this question. When DH BBAs something, it doesn't seem to pick up any extra abv. With seems again logic and what happens from anyone else. BBA and regular pt5 is 11%. BBA and regular tres is 7.5%. Both legs come out exact,t the same. Thoughts?
