Staying in Milford CT, have a few spare hours this coming weekend, what are some must see breweries / stores / restaurants in the area? Don't mind driving up to an hour (would prefer less driving but)

Definitely want to hit up Two Roads and New England Brewery I think....?

    Thanks!

I believe NEBCO might still be closed for renovations, but check the Facebook page. If you go up 95 to Branford there are 3 breweries to hit , Stonycreek , Thimble Islands and Duvig

if NEBCO is open it is a must. About 45 minutes from Milford is Steady Habit(Haddam). Their beers(I've only had their IPAs) are excellent. Coalesce is exceptional.

Two Roads is a favorite. Every time I go home I hit up New England Beverage Center on the Post Road in Orange. Great beer selection with a wide variety of singles.

Nebco would be a great idea if they are open, hopefully renovations will be done soon! OEC is open saturdays if you are into sours. Treehouse is about 1.5 hours from milford and totally worth the trip! there is a few spots with good draft lists close by. Prime 16 in orange and new haven, cask republic, mikro, check untapped for fuzzy baby ducks, you might get lucky. For food, new haven has awesome pizza restaraunts, to many to list.

I know Tree House is probably worth the trip, I don't know if we wanted to do the 3 hour round trip though. I did see that.

I do love sours, but saturday is the wedding, so I doubt we will have free time then, are they only open Sat?

Awesome. Yeah I had Two Roads before and enjoyed them, so excited to check it out.

Thanks for the advice on a bottle shop too!

Stupid question but I just search for Fuzzy Baby Ducks and then see what locations people are checking into it and that should give me an idea of if they have it on tap right?

Yep, but it never lasts long. On facebook there is a page called fuzzy baby ducks & beyond tracker. That might help you find some. And ya OEC is normally only open saturday, but on their website they mention that if you call ahead and they are around, you can come by during the week, might be worth giving them a call http://www.oecbrewing.com/tasting_room/

What do their bottles usually run in cost? Sounds pretty cool though I might just have to give them a call.

Not every place puts out Fuzzy Baby Ducks the second they get it so you might find it next week. Your approach on untappd is the right way to go about it (apparently the fb page might be good too). Admittedly never done either for FBD but have used untappd in that way for other beers or to check out what is on at a particular place.

Oec bottles are usually around 10-14 for a 750ml. You should grab some cans of Sea Hag at a liquor store. New England Brewing has been closed for renovations, but migbt reopen this week. However if they do reopen, I'd expect a big ol line for growler fills. Probably kn the 1-2 hour range.

Yeah I had Sea Hag before pretty solid stuff, but will definitely look for more. Oh jeez that would be a vacation killer to wait in that line.

Any store you recommend in/around Milford for bottles?

Nice. Not a bad price for OEC. Do you know if you need to call a day in advance or that morning to see if they are there or what?

Just give us a ring when you have some idea on when you'd like to stop by... If we are here you are more than welcome to come pick up bottles and prefilled growlers.

That's awesome. Be around both Thursday and Friday. Will definitely call. The beers sound delicious.

    Cheers

If you go friday you should make a stop at black hog about 5 mins down the road from oec. I severely under estimated their beer especially their mosaic ipa. Steady habit is about an hour+ from milford depending on traffic, they have a good bottle shop attached to the brewery. Keep an eye out for nebco reopening, i think they will have a tasting area for pints.

If your looking for food and drink, bar 333 has pretty good food from what ive had and right now they have captains daughter on tap and thimble island coffee stout. If you like the thimble island you can take a ride there as well on friday i think they are about 20 - 30 mins north of milford.

bottle shops - wines and more boston post road , racebrook wine & liquor (orange next town over, 5-10 min drive) and if you want to take a 15 mins drive to new haven there is amity wine and spirit.

Forgot to also mention loading dock liquor on the post road in milford.

bar 333 will have a goose island tap take over tomorrow night , only notable beers they will have is sofie, matilda and bourbon county. When i asked what BC he said he didnt know, so could be something special or just the regular bcbs.
