someone elsewhere suggested suing JWB. i know suing over $300 is dumb, but holy shit if i lived in south florida i may do it out of fucking spite at this point.

 

No I'm serious, the majority of us are in FL and have from the beginning saw this as not just a bottle club, but as a crowd funded project to help out a local brewer. None of us thought "wow what a great deal on these bottles" as I said earlier everyone who backed Wakefield knew the costs so no one should be complaining about overpriced Berliners at this point, we were all aware and approved of the costs when we signed up. That being said, I completely understand why some folks are frustrated and want out, as I mentioned earlier Wakefield has done a poor job with communication and I understand why a few folks are over it and want out. But I have heard of only around four people who are actually actively seeking to have someone but out their membership. Also there is no shortage of people who want to take them up on their offer.

So yes, I stand by the statement that the majority of OGs are not as pissed and upset as some folks on these boards are. Maybe frustratd but not to the point were they are attacking Wakefield professionally and personally and looking to sell their membership. As with most things in life those that are fine with something say nothing while a smaller number who are angry are loud and vocal.

As evidenced by the language in your post which you directed at me you are upset and angry, but seriously lashing out at me makes no sense. I was offering another viewpoint that many folks who are OGs share, but have long since left these Internet forums. Moreover, I originaly made my post because I was surprised at the number of folks bashing Wakefield for his handling of his original backers who are not backers themselves, this fact just kept striking me as odd and unnecessary, but that is the internet.

Also, while waxing a Berliner I agree is unnecessary, Wakefield didn't do this as a measure to try to fix leaking bottles. It was stated online before the bottles were even filled that they would have pink caps and pink wax. Also I strongly agree that Wakefield should address this issue explaning the possibility of leaking bottles and how he will make it right.

i wasn't lashing out at you nor upset and angry at you. i was incredulous at the idea that someone who bilked the beer community for $82k out of goodwill has frittered every piece of goodwill away by his 2-year delay, repeatedly showing up to beer festivals, pouring the beer that was supposed to be "OG friday growler" beer for walk-ins, his addressing everything BUT this on social media, his refusal to ship glasses, finally producing beer which may or may not be gross and leaks everywhere. incredulous at you. upset and angry at him.

 

Matt brought that Wild Stout to my house and someone brought Bootsy to the same party. I wasn't sure if you were there and I just didn't know the screen name. Anywho, carry on, Son of Arathorn.

A few tidbits from OG emails along with dates:

1/21/14 - Secondly I want to say sorry for taking so long on getting this email out to you guys, now that I have a final list there will be no problems in updating you guys on the progress of the brewery and on the specifics of the OG Society.
1/21/14 - we are projecting to have product to market by April.
1/21/14 - We are going to be sure to make this Society worth your while. So we will be taking polls on which styles you guys would most like to see from us for the OG Society.
1/21/14 - We will be printing OG Society cards and getting your OG swag to you guys soon, like your OG Society glass.

8/14/14 - Now about the glassware. We have come to realization that we will not be able to ship these to all of you indivually. The risk of these breaking and the fact of not being able to replace them immediately concerns us the most since we had to wait nearly 4 months just to get our initial order from Rastal.

10/31/14 - I would like to take a moment and address the fact that I have been a very poor communicator. I would like to sincerely apologize to everyone. As a sole entrepreneur, who is starting a brewery solo, I ran into more obstacles than I ever imagined. I was aware, from day one, that this wouldn’t be an easy endeavor. But in my wildest dreams I didn’t envision the challenges that I have run into.

10/31/14 - I want nothing more than to be brewing beer and treating my customers to the best experience possible. I now realize that I probably should have enlisted the help of others to speed up this process from the beginning. I have already brought someone in to take care of all email correspondence to OG members and to our customers. Please do not hesitate to email me and I will make sure your concerns and questions are addressed in a timely manner.

1/4/15 - The Donor/OG party will be held in June which will give us enough time to have more beers ready and brew the Donor Party Beer.

2/6/15 - P.S. Starting next Friday we will be filling growlers just for the OG's of a selected treatment keg. It will be limited to 20 growlers. It will be first come first serve. Either you or your trustee needs to pick up the growlers; we cannot ship these beers. We will make this rotational, so if you picked up one week, you cannot pickup till everyone else has had their turn. This

If you have read through this entire thread, and still want to pay someone $300 for their membership...I have a Thai hooker fetish that can also use some funding...

 

Though it wasn't an OG email, let's not forget my personal favorite moment from the last few years, when he traded some of his own beer to someone for beers for himself while his OGs waited patiently through delays. And when they complained about it, his answer was something like "Please tell these people this was a trade I was doing for myself."

 

He has succumb to straight lol-ing OGs that ask questions or voice opinions on Twitter. Welcome to the Dark Side.
