That f's with my head, or it this 9am beer.

 

Beer review #740: ****oo Wheats by Odd Side Brewing Company



Looks like some ****oo machine put this label on...

As usual -- a new Odd Side beer on the shelf? Gotta have it. Poured into a 10oz mini-shaker, since it's all that was clean.

Appearance: A gorgeous orange color with a slight haze. Not much lacing to speak of, and virtually no head.

Smell: Bizarre but pleasant. Has a Witbier or Hefeweizen smell to it (that is to say clove, a little banana), but with COFFEE. Definitely a little bit on the "Odd Side" of things (heh.. heh..). Those few things combined together with the wheat make for a very unique, unusual smelling beer.

Taste/feel: Coffee, but also coriander, clove, and some other sort of flavors you'd not expect in a beer that has coffee in it. Finish is a very clean wheat and coffee flavor, and refreshing. Body is fairly light, but not watery, with a somewhat modest prickly carbonation. Very strange, but good nonetheless.

Proof that a light beer (this at 4.5% ABV) doesn't have to taste like a light beer. It's light and refreshing, but has an "I want another sip." quality to it that has me giving it a 4 rating overall. Who would guess that a Hefeweizen would taste so good with coffee? Odd Side did, apparently. Odd Side did a great job sprucing up a style I'm never overly impressed with. Another tasty beer from Odd Side!

Ready for the understatement of the year, BAs? Monday is a lot better when it's the first day of vacation.

 

It was taking a leak and is very Bladder Shy. I'm thinking it's more of an "inch issue" if you follow where I'm going..

 

I should've picked up one yesterday also when I picked up Even More Jesus.

 

I have the same problem. Erg, um, I say that out loud

 

If there is a better beach beer on earth, I want to see it. (or at least another guy in a High Life hat drinking a Jai Alai)

Turns out I was right about this whole "session" ABV. 7.5% is right in my wheelhouse.
