Does anyone have any good beer spots along 95 between New York and Tree House? I see the route takes me through New Haven and Hartford. I'd be interested in any recommended bottle/can joints or breweries.

    Thanks much in advance! Cheers!

NEBCO. the answer is always NEBCO. Theyre in Woodbridge, just north of New Haven.

plenty of awesome beer bars in New Haven also. Camille's Pizza in Tolland has great food and a solid tap list. Theyre right off 84, 2 exits shy of where you'll get onto 32N to Monson.

Keep in mind nebco is closed for the time being for renovations. They should be open this week...maybe, you know how construction projects go. *quack*

one caution, I don't think the new NEBCO tasting room is open yet. Theyve been renovating the past couple of weeks. Should be soon....but be sure to double check if you're coming this weekend.

they're really arent any other destination-worthy breweries on your direct route. If you had time to wander around, OEC, Beer'd, Firefly and Steady Habit are CT's best offerings.

Pro tip: NEBCO is much easier if you take the Merritt Parkway (Hutch turns into the Merritt in CT) up through CT, you can just about see the brewery from the highway. It's also generally much faster to TH (Merritt -> 91 -> 84) than 95, as you almost always hit traffic in Norwalk, Westport or Stamford.

As for spots along the way, check out Half Time in Mamaroneck (just off the hutch & 95) for a giant selection. It's pricey but they've got an awful lot.

This! The Merritt is a much more scenic, enjoyable drive. It's narrow and twisty which makes it engaging. 95 is just a heinous road

If you get onto 90 when getting close to Tree House (might be same exit depending on how you come up) you can stop at Yankee Spirits in Sturbridge. Lots of bottles with a decently large local selection and it is right off the exit (rt. 20 & 84) as you're headed to Monson.

I'm heading up to TH this friday and if I have time, will add this to my itinerary, either before or after. Thanks!

if you go up towards danbury ct by me, you'll pass black hog and oec exit 16 I believe on 84 and deciccos has several locations along the way. great for bottles and growlers. good selection. few decent beer bars with food, but depends on your timing on that.

Good call - I've never left a Deciccos without finding something worthwhile. Often I am forced to choose between a myriad of options I want!

haha, true that. and several have crowler machines now which are easier to store than growlers. armonk & brewster for sure. think ardsley too - or they're getting one. haven't been to that one.

Only Armonk & Brewster so far, those are their two really serious beer stores. The bar at Armonk is amazing, little out of the way, unless OP drops visiting NEBCO, but a solid shout.

depends when he's going. if it's this week, still closed. reopening next week. and yeah, armonk is sweet. so is brewster. they just extended the size of it few months ago. both have really cool tenders too.

    Hi Guys,

Anyone have any recommendations for a spot in/near Danbury that has a good tap list? If not a good beer store in that area? Also will be heading through Hartford...but Danbury would be ideal as a stop for dinner.

    Thanks!

If you want good food too, stanziatos is awesome. byob as well - just theres cork fee so better with lotta peeps or bottles. widow browns, meeting house (40 taps, haven't seen lists yet though...it's newer), or even greenwoods in bethel.

def stop at deciccos in brewster ny along the way. good taps, growlers, and the entire back wall is bottles. 15-20 from meeting house or widows. not much farther from greenwoods.
