I made a trek to VT to pick up some Heady Topper at a VT liquor store about 2.5 hours from me. It was the closest place that carries it. While I was waiting for the guy to go out back and get my haul, I look on the shelf in front of me and there are 2 - 4-packs of Founders RIS for 11.99 each. This was in June. That stuff was gone the week it came out in January in MA. Not a huge score but a pleasant one seeing as though its one of my favorites.

Like a year or so ago I saw about a case of 2007 D'extra sittin on the shelf at a shop in Ocean City for $9 a piece, picked up a few, theyve been gone for a while now though

I found two bottles of pappy van winkle 23 year at a place for 199 each. That was a steal. But beer is very expensive here in kentucky. I own a store and am very often paying higher wholesale prices than many of you pay at the retail level.

What is crazy is that some rare bourbon offerings made 20 miles away are cheaper (and easier to find) across the border in indiana.

Yeah I would be all over that deal. Such a great beer.

I got some '07 and '08 Abyss the other day for $25 and $20, respectively.

    Westvleteren 12 and 8.

Back in 2007-08 I was just getting into craft beer. My dad showed me a WSJ article about some hard-to-find Belgian beer called Westvleteren 12. So the next day I drive to a little bottle shop near my house and they have it on the shelf! Westy 8 as well. Bought one of each. Hooked on craft beer ever since.

Found Westy Blonde at a shop while traveling in Milan a couple of weeks ago, too.

I've seen them go from anywhere between $20 and $24 a 4 pack.

    Shit, Anthony's? Or somewhere else?

    I snagged a ton of old-ish 120 2 off-seasons ago from there.
I just took a ton of store-aged goodies from Rehobeth, it seems like the only WWS they sell is 2010 there, every shop only had 2010's!

If I'd never had it before, I might have too. But I've already had a glass (for free even, out of a 3L bottle) @ the Bottleworks anniversary event last year. Don't get me wrong, it was great; I just couldn't justify spending $85 on a bottle of beer. I can't think of a single bottle, any bottle, I'd drop that kind of cash on. Hoping to send the kid to college someday instead.

That's cool, trust me $85 is a steal for that beer.

Yesterday I walked into a local liquor store in Niles, a suburb of Chicago, after a meeting in the area. I took a quick look at their Belgian beer section and a lone Cantillon Vigneronne 750 ml caught my eye. I can't remember the last time I saw Cantillon sitting on a shelf. It felt like a time warp. Needless to say it's no longer sitting on the shelf, but it is resting comfortably in my cellar.

Believe me, I know. Here's a whole thread about the handful of bottles of Deviation they put out about a month ago. If you follow it far enough you'll see where one of them probably ended up on eBay, and sold for $225.

Had no idea they sold more recently. One of the best beers I have ever had.

Crazy on the HT, I know liquor world was selling 4 packs when it came around though. I also got a case of KBS from an unnamed store this year however.
