I was going to say I'm open to whatever, but you found one I'm not. High fructose corn syrup SUCKS!

Lol. Not my favourite. A couple of the last ones I tried reminded me of urine.

I have no problem with additives, just not really for me. Some beers have additives that you don't really notice, Rochefort has ground coriander seeds for example.

Nothing spicy. No jalapeƱos, siracha, chiles. I've had beers with these like Xocoveza, coco mole, and Bomb and the spice comes through like cinnamon and is well hidden with more pleasant flavors. If I think it will be spicy,I won't even try. Except Habanero sculpin which made my eyes water and drain poured after a few curse words.

Fluoride. It's toxic waste that doesn't make my beer taste any better or worse

I love traditional brewing ingredients, but I'm still open to trying beer brewed with about any additive. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised and others revolted.

Haven't had a strawberry beer that I like. Big fan of coconut and vanilla in stouts tho. Very much dislike perennial 17 - tastes like shitty menthol ashtray.

you'd be surprised how many beers have high-fructose corn syrup in them (or "HFC" as its known....)

Not exactly a good reputation, either....

*Currently drinking a Grapefruit Sculpin, mostly enjoying it*

I don't like beers with grape must or grape juice added (although I really liked Saint Lamvinus, which had grapes added). And while I like a little spice in some beers (see Bomb or Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti), Habanero Sculpin was a disappointment.

I am not too picky; I don't mind fruit flavors, or fruit additives but I cannot stand peaches.

I'm on board with this as well, but then again, any beer in a storm... well, most any beer, HGL's suck (High Gravity Lagers).

    Couple of things about that:

    • HFCS wouldn't be a diabetes risk in beer because you're not drinking the sugars; you're drinking the result of fermenting them.
    • HFCS is a really crappy syrup to use for beer, and it's not widely used. Not all domesticated yeasts can use fructose, and mixing sugars can cause stalled fermentations as the yeast have to alter their membrane-bound transporters to accommodate the sugar distribution around them (this problem can pop up when you mix too much glucose with maltose, also). Instead, most brewers use 95% or 99% dextrose syrup instead (although craft brewers tend to use 50lb. bags of dry dextrose instead of syrup). It still comes from corn, however.
    • If the yeast is able to metabolize it, sugar is sugar. It's a little silly to have some kind of chip on your shoulder against pentose sugars. The most common form of HFCS (HFCS 55) is almost identical, at a molecular level, to honey. Everyone here also hate honey? I didn't think so.

If HFCS is added post fermentation/filtration it absolutely is going to be in your beer.
