Instawhalez bro! *grabs popcorn* This ought to be good.

In all seriousness I hope there will be a civilized system in place to avoid chaos. Tapping different beers at all the different sessions was dicey enough.

Hopefully tickets for the first 40 in line and that will solve the problem. If you're too late, no need to stand in line to get in and no cutting in line.

Yeah, no. That would 1) require an extra employee to watch the line and hand out tickets as people arrive and 2) still be open to abuse with cutting, trying to get double tickets, etc.

If they're not going to do a BPT release for them, it makes sense to just sell them out of the merch booth, first come first served. Trying to do wristbands or tickets only adds complexity without really solving the core issues.

ad 1. There is an employee at the door at all times at Modern Times, as far as I remember from every single time I was there.
ad 2. Not really. As long as tickets are distributed, let's say 30 minutes before entry time, or 1h or whatever they decide on, there will be no shitshow with quickly distributing 40 tickets (basing my experience on similar releases, like for example Remy's Pappy)
Although, I still think the first come first serve approach is cool as well.

Standing at the door != walking through the line, handing tickets out. The door person is also generally checking IDs and/or matching tickets to BPT printouts, not just hanging out.

You're just moving the first come, first served function up from when the doors open to an hour before entry.

I get what you're saying in a general sense, but this seems like it's intended to be a cool perk for people attending the party, not a normal bottle release with all of the requisite beer geek angst about getting shut out because they didn't arrive early enough or the brewery wasn't policing the line or whatever else people bitch about when they stand in line. They have enough to worry about with trying to manage the logistics and crowd of two sessions per day, they don't need one more thing to worry about.

Same here, but I also understand Jacob wanting to spread the wealth to people going to the parties, rather than selling to members who may or may not be going.

That said, if people don't want to worry about lining up for them, I'm sure League members would be happy to solve that problem by buying most of them up before the doors even open.

And what of the people who bought tickets to both early and late sessions and miss out on the morning bottles, will they be forced to leave early just to get in another line? Or how about the clutter and traffic that is gonna be caused by ppl lining up 2+ hours before the second session even starts to try to be the first 40 in line.

I would just pop as many bottles as possible at the anniversary party to offer everyone a taster for some extra $$ then BPT or offer to league members the rest of the bottles.

Yes, Derek and Jacob are personally going to walk around the event and put a gun to your head, forcing you to go stand in line for bottles.

    ""Forced"" *airquotes*

Meant that as a joke for those that take their bottle hoarding a little too seriously. There's gonna be so much good stuff on tap, and given the way MT handles their stuff, the bottle release will probably be an after thought. It's a celebration after all, not a competition.

Fixed it for you, bro. Good luck thinking people are gonna be all chill drinking Lomaland ignoring the limited bottles available for sale.

Eh, I bought a ticket to the 1,2 and 4th session of the anniversary party. I'm pretty confident that in all that celebrating of the anniversary, I'll be able to get my bottles of dat Modem Tone dank sauce whalez, brah.

What do you guys think of this solution: limit it to one bottle per person total (rather than 1 bottle of each variant person, as I had assumed in the announcement). That means 123 total bottles available per session (with there being 125 tickets plus 10 DDs per session).

EDIT: I should add that the retailer that provided us the barrels will very likely sell the bottles we're allocating to them through their online store, and that they will ship anywhere in California plus some other states, I believe. Although I do not know exactly when or how they plan on doing this yet.

    Cheers & thanks,

Interesting info ... didn't know there are 135 tickets sold per session ... meaning at 1/person, 91% of attendees will be able to secure a bottle ... 2/person = 46%. Hmmmm, thinking 1/person might be the way to go. I guess my main concern is waiting in a shit-show line ... with the 1/person idea, the "it's a bottle share playa" freaks can line up hours earlier for the 12-year, while others can wait in a reasonable line ... or is this "reasonable line" a big assumption even at 1/person?

One tweak I'd say would be to not allow DDs to buy a bottle. I know it seems vaguely unfair to someone who may be a DD but wants to try the beer later, but if you allow DD tickets to buy, I think it will encourage muling. Even at 10 tickets/session, that could deplete 25% of the 12 year bottles by people seeking to exploit the system by getting a cheap ticket just for a shot at bottles.
