I believe bottles showed up in stores the same week as migration week last year.

Will these stores have bottles for sale?

According to the distribution rep I spoke with at Rattlesnake last night I would not expect to see bottles for sale, but that would run contrary to what we've seen the past few years. So I would lean no based on that conversation, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Haven't seen any bottles. Was hoping to snag a bomber.

Talked to another local rep at Stoddards last night, he said they got just one case each of Vanilla Rye, Class of '88, and Madame Rose for the tastings around the area on Wed/Thurs, so each place will get just three bottles of each. I suppose they could sell them but that would look pretty bad IMO if they're advertising a tasting only to turn around and sell the bottles.

Idk man. The way that i see it is that type of move is undoubtedly custy. But this is america. Our economy isnt based around spreading the love. Lets just hope most people arent soft enough to give into such nonsense.

The Goose Island Migration Week website states Blanchards, West Roxbury "Beer showcased: Madame Rose, Class of '88, BCS Vanilla Rye". Were those available to be sampled or just up for auction? If the former, then they met their obligation, end of story. If the latter, then that is a dick move and both Goose Island and Blanchards, West Roxbury deserve to be called out. IMHO

I don't think it's fair to call out Goose Island. The distribution rep told me that the stores were free to do with the beers as they please once they have them - at that point it's out of their hand from a distribution perspective, so Goose is really two steps removed in that case.

That being said, unfortunate circumstances like this should make Goose and their distributor take a long, hard look at future Migration Week events to decide who they want to partner with. I've never been to the W. Roxbury Blanchards, though I live right down the road in Roslindale, and don't expect I'll ever go there in the future given these events. We can all vote with our dollars buy taking our business elsewhere to shops with more reasonable and fair distribution.

I plan to go to the N Reading tasting, "meet the brewers" event today which starts at 4p. Do I need to show up early? Anyone with suggestions or past experience in the N of Boston scene? Usually a waste land of craft up this way, so am assuming will be busy which = on time or early arrival?

BTW, its at Eastgate liquors, anyone shop there? Is it a good bottle shop to begin with?

This is one of the many reasons I love my local store. @Budak, I'm sorry you wasted your time and had such a lousy experience. I understand that the Goose Island folks might not have any real power here, but this should be very embarrassing for them.

They sell a shit load of budweiser, that's all you need to know. Outside of BCBS in November, you won't find much else. The store in Wilmington actually has a better selection.

Well it's on their website (it's like gooseisland.com/migrationweek or something like that), so they are ultimately responsible for what they state on their site, no? If their site says "Come to Blanchards in WR; beers to be showcased are Madame Rose, Class of '88, BCSVR" and they don't have those beers or only have one of each and it's auction only, Goose Island is ultimately responsible. Then it's up to the reps to go to the company and say "Hey, you're making us look like a-holes by advertising one thing and doing another..."

But as I said, if they had those beers available for sampling, they fulfilled their obligation, end of story.

Went to the N Reading event, the "brewers" were "stuck in traffic", but lets be honest, we were there for the beer. That being said, they only had 3 bottles of Vanilla Rye. Ok, I get it, not much to go around. But it would have made more sense to crack them for tasting instead of selling to the first three people. Otherwise a good event, they did have BCBS for tasting and also pastries, so cheers to them. Note to self: Not worth it in the future.

Haha your not kidding I needed to calm down. I lost my shit but Im just not a person to put my hands in my pockets and walk out a door when I've been screwed. Ya, you read it right there were no pours of any of those bottles listed. Just a single bottle of each up for auction. I couldn't believe it and just made an effort to make a stir with the guys from goose island. I wasted two hours just to find out they weren't pouring any of those beers.i know they didn't cause I asked if they were going to. They only opened one 12 ounce bottle of 14 bcbs. Though delicious did not defuse my anger. But that 312 By the way I live in Rosindale center and looking for a tasting group. Lets hang out and drink beer.
