I went to a beerfest in Cinci this past winter mainly because they had CBS, I waited in line for it but they poured Backwoods instead. I realized their mistake and got back in line figuring they would have plenty to last till i got to the table again but they ran out right before me. So about a month later i planed a trip up to Michigan for the opening of the Ann Arbor HopCat to get a try of CBS... It was the Day of a crazy snow storm and i didn't get their until 2 hours after i planed to be. and wouldn't you know it, the tap blew 10 min before I got there... I don't think Ill ever get a chance to have a glass of CBS but at this point im not sure I even want to.

This thread, and community, is truly amazing.

Both of my personal white whales have been taken care of, due to friendly BA's reaching out with gifts and trade offers, over the course of a single day. I cannot wait.

I think I'm quite lucky in reading the entries here; I have had the pleasure of experiencing several 'whales' on this thread. I must give a shout to my good friend A.B. who made it possible to enjoy such offerings - BCBCS, BC vanilla rye, heady, Pliny, KBS, and recently Chocolate Rain. An apparent expert trader and beer yoda!!

That being said here are my ISO's:

    High-Westified ICS by Lagunitas

    Born Yesterday

    CBS

Pliny the Younger - but I think I'll actually go up to the brewery on a weekday when they do it next February.

    Any variant of Hunahpus

    Anything from Hill farmstead

The generosity from the community to help others with their whales is not surprising. I've had a couple of people of the years randomly hook me up just from a post that I have made. Keep it up gents!

I'm kind of surprised that no one has mentioned Rare.

It's hard to ay what mine are. They change so frequently. But, I guess today's whales are:

    West Ashley
    Aaron
    Double Darrel Damon
    and,

a lesser, more obtainable, would be Second Fiddle or Mastermind.

Dinner. At some point, I'll time a trip up to MBC for a Dinner release. It ain't happening this weekend though.
Mastermind. Fiddlehead's been in between batches the last few times I've been up there.

Pliny or heady topper I guess. I am new to the whole "whale" thing, but with all the ranting and raving about these, I am intrigued..

I didn't think The Younger was being sold in bottles (I could be wrong). I assumed only place I'd be able to have it is at Russian River brewery on the day of the release.

I'll be visiting RR in a couple weeks. I'll be picking up some Elder and others while there and shipping it to myself.

    No worries....

I wouldn't mind having what's in your avatar/picture profile either. Loved the two BC variants I've had thus far (BCBS and the BCBBW)... I imagine the rare is a cut above, from reading all the reviews.

I was luckily enough to have a small pour at a tasting recently. It was devine. I would love a bottle but I dont have enough ammo to get one 1:1 and I cant justify emptying a celler to get one.

So many beers I wanna try, I think everyone has the big TG stouts, BC variants, DB Huna and other big popular stouts on their lists.

For me a huge want has been anything Cantillon, or 3F (especially Lou Pepe, Fou Foune, Framboos etc.)
