I think the other thread while got off track at some point was still pretty focused and doing fine.

Bummer I enjoyed that thread. Let's hope this keeps going

I couldn't make it to the east end or bullfrog but was at voodoo meadville. Maybe we crossed paths

I was at Voodoo Meadville for the 2nd Barrel Room release. This was my first big beer event so I had no idea what to expect. I met jflorence who occasionally still posts here, but outside of him I pretty much kept to myself. Still might have crossed paths, but I was still learning how to walk.

Me and a few friends make ita regular thing. All of the Voodoo Barrel releases, just started Huna day and Bullfrog releases this year, Bourbon County Black Friday this past year, Hoppin Frog releases depending on what they are. Plan to hit the Abraxas release hopefully this year, would love to get to DLD and maybe Darkness day as well. Something being too far away to go is not really a thing for us. The trips are always fun and obviously getting these beers make it an awesome experience.

@Matthouse3 what was your trip to Chicago for Black Friday like? I really wanted to go last year but didn't get to.

Shit if we loaded up your mommymobile we could be there in no time and we'd arrive in style.

Hahaha I didn't mean it was close, I meant that we don't consider that too far of a trip for something like Huna Day. Best beer event I have been to, hands down.

The drive was unbelievably miserable. Ran into a killer blizzard if anyone remembers. We left Thanksgiving night around like 6pm from DuBois, PA and it took us like 10 hours to get there. The line was pretty damn long for 4am but Dunkin Donuts and me parking my Jeep super close made ducking out to warm up pretty beneficial. All in all a good experience, except for the bottle limits. Tried going around to other Binnys only to get mocked and laughed at for asking if they had such a thing called "Bourbon County" left. Having everything on tap was the highlight for sure. Cthulu was super good. We went to Local Option after which had a crazy tap list as well. Definitely plan on making the trip again this year. Hopefully the Maple Syrup BCBS is a real thing because that sounds outstanding.

My wife agreed to it in the fall but then told me the other day that, upon reflection, she was out of her mind and there's no way she's doing it. #feelsbadman

@kbuzz did you report me to BA or to your wife? I can handle the former but the latter seems unnecessarily harsh.

My buddy went to DLD (aka soy sauce day) and said he had a great time. It is worth it for VBDL alone! Maybe i'll make the trek that way next year. Dad still lives in GR so it wouldn't be a terrible car ride from there.

Sorry, I haven't gotten any feedback and haven't had a chance to taste it myself.

Thanks for the tag, I probably would have stared at the old thread for an embarrassing amount of time before realizing that the reason people were no longer posting in it was because it was locked and not because mutually assured destruction had been achieved between BigHornyDevil and shuggy and the rest of the Pittsburgh BAs were the collateral damage.

I'd be interested in hearing any reports from people that have made it to some of these new (and upcoming as they open) breweries. I tried to put together a list of western PA breweries and I'll have to count up how big my list got tomorrow. It certainly felt like 30+. At the rate I check out new places it will be impossible for me to get to places at the rate they are opening.

I only just managed to get to Spoonwood for the first time a little over a week ago. I enjoyed my couple beers, a Pale and Stout, the space was comfortable although I am glad I was not relegated to a barrel, the patio looked nice but there was a large party out there and it actually ended up raining a little so I'm glad we chose the inside. The brewery looked well put together from what I could see through the windows and the food was solid. I didn't have any service issues that some people mentioned and it seemed decently full for an early Saturday evening.

Spotted BCBS and BCBB at Wicked Fox.

99 Bottles is having a Draai Laag tasting tomorrow night 7-9 pm. New outdoor area opening at DL and bottles being served there is a big ups in other news.

House of 1000 has Jacks Abby still.

Bocktown was rocking the Game of Thrones Black Saison (forgot name) and a good Hefeweizen from Four Seasons. I was also surprised at how fruity the Warrior DIPA is ontap from flying dog not bad.

Sour Monkey was a home run for me. Beer Market had it ontap.
I also like Flying Monkeys craft brewery who just showed up in the scene.

    Just random thoughts.
    Cheers Pittsburgh

Does anyone here have any more info on a opening date for the new House of 1000 Beers they are building in McCandless Crossing? I am getting very anxious, I want it to open soon as it is right down the road from me.

I can confirm that Calientes in Bloomfield is out of "Lunch". It also seems like the Decadence that i had on tap was a little flat.....probably a leftover from their Alesmith takeover during PCBW
