Enjoying fruits of a quick road trip to Portland last week to snag a bunch of Bissell Bro beers. The Substance is growing on me on this gorgeous night here in MA. Cheers BA!

New Mayflower brew, I'm guessing their attempt at a session IPA. Classified as an American Pale Ale, 4.5% 25 IBU.

    Reviews:

Really damn nice stuff! Aromas and flavors of huge watermelon, strawberry, lemon, pear, apple, light banana/clove, wheat, biscuit, and light honey; with some herbal hops and yeast earthiness. Light herbal hop/yeast spicy finish; with well balanced fruit, malt, and earthy yeast flavors. Very robust and flavorful for 4%; with a nice spicy hop/yeast balance to the malt sweetness. Huge surprise here, this was absolutely spot on and robust for a fruited pale wheat ale. Very smooth with moderate wheat creaminess in the mouthfeel. I had to put in significant effort to get all the yeast off the base of the bottle into my glass, and if you don't do it then you aren't getting the full experience with any wheat style. I'm buying more for damn sure. This is one of the best fruit wheats I've had in a while.

Continuing my love affair with English barleywines with this collaboration of Buxton/Evil Twin. Really awesome stuff. Aromas and flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, light pine, raisin, plum, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, and herbal/grassy hop earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/piney bitterness on the finish; with a great balance of malt sweetness with a creamy and lightly sticky/slick mouthfeel and finish. Lowly carbonated and a full body. Really loved this one. This is still young being bottled in October 2014; but the hops show a really impressive flavor balance with the high malt sweetness and fruity yeast flavors. Still really hoppy overall, but more balanced than an American counterpart would be at this age. Smooth sipper with only light lingering warmth on the finish. SMaSH English barleywine in true form. Knowing Evil Twin, they probably boiled it for 5 hours. I would not mind picking another up to cellar for a few years. This is like a cross between American/English styles overall with the hop character I got out of it.

Stout brewed with butterscotch toffee coffee. Really tasty stuff. Aromas and flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, toast, dark bread, light butterscotch and some light herbal hop flavors; with a fair bit of plum/apple fruity English yeast earthiness as well. Light-moderate roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with a very smooth and creamy finish with light carbonation and medium-full body. Well balanced coffee and malt flavors; not too much butterscotch vibes going on but definitely a lot of coffee/toffee notes. Once again it appears as an English style, which means it not labeled correctly on this site again. Seems like they like English influence in all of their darker beers I have had thus far.

This game is taking forever. My girlfriend insists it rains in Nebraska (hence the farm industry), why not right now for 5 days?!?? Either way I'll have time to let this warm a tad and sip it, most likely. Crossing fingers for a solid ending.

Had a few new beers tonight. I had a +10% rdev on one, and a -17% on the other. Like baseball, it all evens out. The last one (Racer) gave me an idea though...
