I've been twice, but for a conference so didn't have a car. Stayed in the Gaslight both times, there are a couple decent places I found (though nothing absurd). Would definitely be interested in hearing what the locals say as San Diego is a place I'd like to get back to. If the locals don't pipe up anything and you're staying near/in Gaslight I'll go look up what the places I liked were. They were decent places if I remember correclt, but I don't know that they were decent enough to go too far for.

I'll chime in if none of the locals do. I go there often enough but its typically to pick up beer and always to the same handful of places :stuck_out_tongue: Not especially familiar with all of the different areas.

One thing I will say since its a family trip.. Pizza Port. The one I went to almost seemed very kid friendly and with loooots of beer. There will probably be one pretty close to where you're staying since they are all over the place.

This is a great starting point: http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-san-diego-spring-2015.275421/

San Diego is a large area with its own little sections of breweries/pubs.

In time to visit the newly expanded Alpine Brewpub and Alesmith.

Once you know your dates, post it. Maybe there will be a bottle release or event.
For example, Modern Times has their Festival of Dankness on Aug 2.

    Speaking of vacations...
I'll be in Boston July 29th-31st, any recommendations aside from Trillium and Night Shift?
Best bars/beer stores. Going to Vermont, but won't be able to beer shop at all, so Boston is my one stop for beer, plan to ship a couple cases back!

Side note: I will have a rental car

AA Target: Been working night shift so I haven't been able to drop off the box, but it's packed with a label on it. Off tomorrow, will drop it off!

It's funny that my wife and I have been talking about going to San Diego this winter (very likely) and have also talked about a road trip to Boston and possibly Vermont (not as likely). I will definitely be taking notes on any recommendations.

Lord Hobo, Cambridge Brewing, Meadhall all within walking distance of Kendall Square on the red line in Cambridge.
Row 34 always has a cool draft list and awesome seafood. A little pricey but it's right next to Trillium.
Tip Tap Room downtown has decent food and a good draft list.
Heading out on the green line a couple other favorites of mine are Lower Depths, Sunset Grill and Tap, Deep Ellum.

Tree House is awesome but probably about 4 hours including waiting on line. Although you can stop at Armsby Abby for HF on the way back.

Jacks Abby is about 30 minutes from Boston.

I can give you lots of recommendations really so let me know what you're looking for I'd be happy to help.

Also what @mklisz said...I'd also add Publick House especially if you like Belgian food.

If you're strictly looking to beercation during those 3 days a trip to Portland could be worthwhile. You can easily hit 5-10 breweries in a few hours.

It was solid but unspectacular, never had Fair Maiden but based on the reviews I doubt they are comparable.

Has anyone tried the Clown Shoes Breakfast Exorcism yet? Is that one a Mass only release? I love their concept but makes it hard to get to try all these beers...

Tried it at a bottle share, it was excellent. Don't have any bottles myself though.
