Yup, dude apparently made about $400 lotterying (is that a word?) off a bottle of Flora Cherry in a FB lottery group a few weeks ago. DNT list. 100% avoid.

Anybody plan on going to the Savannah Brew Fest on September 5th? I'll be down that way on vacation and planned on making a beer trip to Savannah anyways.

Well you all know me and sometimes I get a little dramatic and call people out... so I did. and he proceeded to tell me it 'is only to pay for his growlers"

edit: a little curious seeing as if it goes for $135 and you subtract growler and glass for 17, minus shipping around $20.... not exactly a non profit situation.

SORRY for my rants today. plsdon'thateme

Will you be coming through Atlanta at all?

I temper my expectations for Georgia beer festivals in general.... we have about 4 great ones, but the local ones like this tend to be all the local, some regional, and big national breweries bringing 2-3 of their standard lineup beers.

Would still be cool for an out of towner to try all the locals you've never had before, but I wouldn't expect to see anything too exciting. (sorry if that sounds like a whiny rant- not intended to be that way)

The Rye IPA is good, but I swear to Beer that their Peanut Butter Porter is ridiculous. Dangerous Man is probably my favorite breweries in that part of town (which has quite a number of breweries) and, while I'm not sure Peanut Butter Porter is my favorite beer of there's (probably Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout), its the favorite of theirs considering style, if that makes sense.

I've never been, but would really like to. I'm really working on getting the wife to agree (she'd probably be pretty pissed if I went without her). Our major problem is that its usually on the same weekend as a good friend of our's Halloween party. While that isn't Darkness Day epic, it is a pretty awesome party (and most of our friends are into craft beer). If the gods smile and Darkness Day ends up being on the 24th like it was in 2009 (the last time Halloween was a Saturday) there's a decent chance since the two wouldn't conflict.

The ace up my sleeve is that my wife's all time favorite beer, Three Hour Tour, only comes out during THB Anniversary Week which I think should put the growler release of Three Hour Tour and Darkness Day on the same day, plus the next day we could drink Three Hour Tour to our heart's content. At GABF last year she went by their booth multiple times just to get samples of Three Hour Tour... Can you tell she likes sweet stouts?

No we'll be staying in the Beaufort, SC area. Had planned on the in-laws watching the little one while the wife and I go on a day long beer trip. Was thinking Charleston at first but it's so far up to Westbrook and Coast I've been looking at going to Savannah instead and hitting a couple of interesting looking little breweries. Just saw tickets go on sale for the brewfest but not sure if I want to waste a Saturday without knowing the brewery list. Really just looking to try some local stuff.

I was told that it will be 10/24. So many breweries to try, and make a run to Toppling Goliath!

I shared the DM Rum Coconut Chocolate stout with the PA guys, it was awesome!

That Dangerous Man beer was awesome, I don't think I had even heard of them before we cracked open that bottle.

Just saw that BS on the guy looking for "loon rarities" or boos for FBD. I'm going full white girl status here guys...I literally cannot even.

...I think that's just about enough of the ISO/FT forums to last me for several months, thx.

    (love you locals)

I go in there, look at the 8 billion acronyms which I don't get. Even when I recognize something I have or want, nothing makes sense. I've just gotten to the point where I drink the beer I can get here. Seems to be more than I can really drink.

I don't think its actually been announced yet (though its possible I missed it), but I do hope they follow the past and go with 10/24. Much higher chance for me to make it that day.

If you're driving anyway, then by all means don't let me talk you out of going to Toppling Goliath... but a decent bit of their stuff hits Hudson, WI (30 minutes away from Minneapolis, happen to be going there tonight  ), so might be worth swinging by Hudson on the way in if you're driving before deciding to go down to Toppling Goliath (which looks to be 2.5-3 hours away).

I have stated it before but the only reason I am still on BA is because I found the Locals. After seeing where a small, but very visible, portion of modern "Beer Advocates" are trending I prefer this vibe. I do go over to the ISO:FT occasionally and I'm afraid that 'winning' traders tend to breed more 'winning' traders. There are very few Local for Local traders on these days but rather just the whale chasers. Most of the simple folk have relegated themselves to other venues for trying new beers.

Nope. Didn't bother to stop. I had a trunk full of beer and was pretty wore out...

    It sounded awful good, though...
I might be able to swing out this week. Why what's up?
