Or that they are hugely overpriced

The thing here is that who knows what the secondary market price of the FO will be after the storm settles? I would bet you will soon be able to buy them on one of those sites for at least $40-60 a pop. But by that time DDG may cost you $300 so all that is flexible.

Seriously, please no lotteries. I can't even win a stupid Black Tuesday french pressing event. I can't win anything with random lotteries, so that pretty much gives me 0.00000001% chance of getting beer. Out of the 5 or 6 Kern lotteries I won...yeah, you guessed it, zero times. Better luck with the second chance sale though. What I understand is why not split the selling options. If you can sell at the brewery and distribute, why not do 50% BPT (or even the dreadful lottery) and 50% brewery only release.

I agree. Lottery means random and even odds. By no means does it mean fair. There is never going to be a 100 % fair/good/right/perfect solution.

I've read the entire thread and have some thoughts. Mostly, it seems, the people that underestimated the demand of the beer, didn't get the beer. The brewery seems to have underestimated the demand as well. If not, a lower limit would have gone a long way to at least extending what was available to the people that showed up, something that very few people have even brought up. Those that weren't able to be there are the exception. A Saturday release might have helped that. I didn't get there that early and I didn't wait that long and I was able to get my bottles; which I split with a friend that couldn't make it. So, I got three; all that I wanted. I can compare that with the Modern Times BPT release of MP Rum Variants in which I was able to get 3 of each (except for the very limited regular rum version) even though the limit was 2. 3 was all that I wanted, but could have gotten many more. My point in this is that BPT is not going to stop muling. In fact, it makes it EASIER.

"Hey, can you come down to the brewery with me at this exact time and wait in line to get this beer?"

"Hey, can you let me use a CC online to buy and come down to the brewery with me ANYTIME within the next 6 weeks to get this beer?"

I didn't underestimate the demand of the beer and showed up a bit early. But, I really love some of the brews this brewery does and am a fan over all. So, when I was discussing the beer beforehand with the brewers and other employees and they all said it was 10-100 times better than Darkstar, that's all I really needed to know. I live in Temecula and stayed overnight at my chick's place in Anaheim and made it happen. I wish everyone were as fortunate. As I'm sure the brewery does as well and that wishes it were possibly for everyone to get bottles. I think they should be commended for giving up some of their own allotments for this as well. Make friends... share bottles... And I hope the people that showed up to get bottles and were unable at least were able to get a taste on tap. If you didn't at least do that, then it wasn't really about the beer for those people to begin with.

Great beer everybody over there at BL. Keep 'em coming.

    Cheers.

I'm against a lottery because it takes the power to improve my chances at getting bottles away from me. I'll do what I can to increase my chances, whether that means getting in line early or refreshing a BPT page.

Got to taste FO this evening and it's pretty awesome. May be the best of any beer made with vanilla for me.

And this is probably not related to BL's pride on this beer, but noticed this sitting in their brewery. They're up to something..

Since we are off track here I need some help for a Vanilla share.. So far I'm putting:

    Fundamental
    Vanilla rye
    Madagascar
    Nooner 9

Anymore to add that are of that "top tier" caliber?

Trades too high plus it was probably one of the most disappointing "white whales" I've had haha. Pretty much a big syrupy mess to me. Never really will understand the hype on that beer.

Yeah.. prob trades too high but still, if you're gonna throw a vanilla BA stout showdown it would be worthwhile to include. It's like when everyone knew Hulk Hogan wasn't winning the '92 Royal Rumble, but it sure would've been weird if he wasn't there.

I guess people wanted the bottle more than the actual beer...

For someone who raved about FO and gave it a perfect 5 score, why do you want to trade any of it?

Because when you have 6 bottles, why not? I fully expect to keep 4 or more of them that I expect to age and drink with some people from here but I would happily trade 2 bottles for other 5 star beers.

General question but I could use some feedback before posting an ISO, would a System of a Stout pull FO? 1:1? or would I need to add?
