Given the popularity of HotD Adam, I'm sure I'm not the only one here who enjoys fresh tobacco flavors and aromas in beer. So my question is this: has anybody come across a beer that actually used tobacco leaves in the brewing? Perhaps in a manner similar to oak chips, vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, or coffee beans? It strikes me as something that would be very hard to do well in the same sense that good chili beers seem hard to do. That is to say, it seems that there would be a very small window in between the flavors being indetectible and being strong enough to be unpleasant. Still, it strikes me as something that, if done right, could work well, particularly in a beer that might otherwise be a bit cloying, such as a barleywine or a scotch ale. So what do you guys think-good idea? Bad idea? Anyone come across anything like this (either commercially brewed or homebrewed?)
Not really a tobacco fan but I do enjoy the occasional cigarette that helps bring forward the hop flavours in weaker IPAs...
If you were to soak tobacco leaves in water, then consume the water you would successfully poison yourself. It is toxic and would be a terrible idea to use tobacco in beer.

Well that would certainly explain why I haven't seen a beer like this before and put an early end to any further discussion-thanks for the info!
Tobacco and beer - two things that should forever be enjoyed separately. Or at least not in the same container at the same time. For example, I enjoy smoking a cigar and drinking a beer but I'm not about to dip the cigar in the beer to add flavor to the beer or the cigar.
