So this morning into early afternoon I went on an 8-ish mile hike with my wife and a friend, and later we are supposed to meet her co-workers at happy hour. Is it bad that my plan is to drink a couple of beers before we go, then nurse one drink the entire time we are out, then have one or two when I get home? I am not optimistic about the happy hour beverage options.

Normally happy hours also have really good food discounts, I'd stock up on that instead
Went to dinner last night at an Italian place and the only beer choices were Peroni, and BMC. I had a martini.

When the beer sucks I go with Gin and Tonics. Drank a lot of Gin and Tonics in Italy. Not a beer country.

Agreed. There are a couple of cool places in Rome though. But dammit, you just cant beat a Negroni or Campari spritz on a piazza though.

My wife was drinking the Spritzs, I had a couple negronis, its like they know how to make it and its amazing or they don't and its almost undrinkable. I had a few bad negronis in Paris 2 years ago, so Im always worried if they know how to make them.

Also got to give my boy Drew props for hitting my 4,000th like. Virtual validation is so pointless yet so rewarding

I asked for a Negroni one time at a very upscale steakhouse here one time, they served me a Peroni. They had no idea what one was.

I once won a Bocce championship mainly because I had a Peroni acting as a counterweight to my ball at all times (my partner used Morretti).
