With all the great small scale craft stuff were blessed with on the west coast I am the first to say I overlook the standards that set the bar years ago, i.e. SN, Stone, ect ect when the fresh load of Hoptimum hit shelves again I balked, don't know why but I did, hell I loved the first release so much I drained a few of those little four packs. Well while at my local WF to pick up more Nobility I grabbed another four pack. Well once again I am blown away, I shouldn't be, because it's possibly one of he best major scale releases of he year but for some reason I need to be reminded, well I am reminded again. Bravo SN, this is the STUFF !!' Cheers.....
Texas got screwed on that second batch. Saw it in Omaha a few weeks back, and said, Meh... It will hit Texas again. Yeah... No. Bastards. Bought about 2 cases of the last one... Need my fix sierra Nevada. Hook it up.
Funny. I stopped in at WF yesterday on the way to BW SB and picked up bottles of row 2 hill 56, Nobility, and another 4 pack of Hoptimum. Wonder if its the same WF's? Good stuff. Had the Nobility when it was first released back a few years ago. Didnt care for then but I heard the new batch is much improved. Had Hoptimum on tap at BW yesterday and it kicked my ass. I think its sweeter on draft than in bottles.
Nice Haul, I just love the Hoprimum batch right now. If you shop at the same WF as we do then Josh is your man, he takes good care of his boys. I had my second bottle of Nobility last night and I'm just saying.......that's one very well made Citra bomb, I posted a tasting note if you care to see my take. I think your going to be blown away. Cheers......
I prefer a Ruination 6 pack or Deviant Dale's 4 pack for my inexpensive DIPA fix. Can't really go wrong with any of them though!
Yea, he's a good guy, I have him over to our house occasionally for tastings. We have crossed paths guaranteed. Cheers.....
I've never been really impressed with hoptimum, honestly. The first time I tried it I drainpoured it.
Seems extreme to drainpour that beer. I'm not saying it's an amazing beer (I thought it was pretty good) but drainpour?
I agree with him. Just seems like an attempt by a brewer who isn't into making crazy hoppy DIPAs just throwing in the towel with all of the hops in the world. I really would love to like it more. But I don't. At all.
I have to say that this year's recipe is drastically better than the first one, it was pretty one dimensional and harsh. It could still use some work though, it's a huge pine bomb.
