When Surly Furious is really fresh, it's pretty awesome.

When Surly Abrasive is really fresh, riots ensue.

    Just kidding. Sorta.

I keep several half growlers at work so I can drop by Trillium before/after shift a few times a week.

Their fresh ipas are practically decadent

I merely wish I could say I get to drink Zombie Dust and White Rajah from the bottle line spout. They are so amazing fresh.

I envy those living close to the respective breweries.

Super fresh translates to brewpubs. I have a number of favorite brewpubs but I will specifically mention Tired Hands, Forest & Main and the Victory Brewpub (Downingtown).

In terms of fresh locally packaged beer: Troegs Sunshine Pils in cans.

    Cheers!

I agree with he community mosaic here in Dallas. Can normally find this within a few days old and since they reworked their recipe several months ago, this stuff got only better!

It used to be a little easier for me to find fresh, local, amazing Wisconsin brews when I lived in the southern part of the state. I can still sometimes find great local beers on tap in my neck of the woods. Here's four that are (even more) exceptional when you find them really fresh (and preferably on tap):

New Glarus - Moon Man and Scream IIPA
    Karben4 - Fantasy Factory
    Black Husky - Howler

Favorite local beer that needs to be fresh is Schlafly Tasmanian IPA.

Goodfellow's Brewing Company - The Townsman Stout, closely followed by their Wheneverfest.

Bog Iron - about 15-20 minutes from me. Their mild sour with honey is a good one fresh, but I gotta stick with Townsman as my favorite.

Local and fresh you'd think should be easy as falling off a log, but apparently not. Jack's Abby is a whopping 90 minutes (or less) from my front door - you'd think fresh Hop Union (or Mass Rising or Kiwi Rising) would be an absolute no brainer - shopping Friday and a whole pile of Hop Union on the floor from March... I'll buy older bottles Framinghammer all day long and twice on Sunday, but the IPL's seem to fall off pretty quickly.

Naturally we (those in KS I mean) get a lot of fresh Boulevard, free state, and tallgrass offerings. Of the less well known breweries (for now at least!) we get fresh stuff from defiance brewing, walnut river, and hank is wiser.

I recently got a 4-pack of 3 day old Fat Head's Head Hunter, drank one and promptly went back to the store to buy 3 more 4-packs for the weekend.

    Third'ing Community Mosaic.

LOVE that beer. Would my Dallas brethren agree with me that it rivals YR as far as Texas IPAs go? I can't be alone...but I feel that, fresh, it's the best you can get in the state.

Not to mention - it's absolutely as close as you can actually get to a DIPA without actually being.
