I'd #cosign pretty much everything here. The only thing I'd disagree with (and that's a strong term, as your experience is your experience) is Green Man. I've never had a bad experience there but I could easily see what you've described happening. Green Man has a lot of English styles that they brew (in particular their ESB) that you won't see done as well many other places. Personally I'm not a fan of those styles, so I hit their stouts or other interesting beers. It can be a bit hit and miss though as sometimes they only have stuff I'm not interested in. If it wasn't so close to other stuff I probably wouldn't go as much as I do. And if they happen to have any of their sours on, I suggest sitting down somewhere and drinking until they're gone...

The Funkatorium is pretty awesome. It's my favorite place in Asheville, though I wish it were a bit more dog-friendly (they don't have a lot of cover outside, so in the summer it can be warm unlike the main brewery where the outside area is covered. The 3 pack carriers are pretty cool  Definitely not cheap, though like you say there's rarely limits which is nice.

I love Biltmore and walking through the house, but I agree the wine is subpar (especially for the price). They do have some good stuff, though its REALLY expensive.

Biscuit Head is also awesome. Have only been a time or two but have really enjoyed.

    Thanks Geoff,
Exactly what I was looking for. The only for sure things we're doing is WW, Funkatorium, and the Biltmore. After seeing this we may avoid Green Man, plenty of other places. I don't think I have found anything before now on Biscuit Head. I'll be adding that to this list of places to stop.

@vitaminvert Day 4! I'd had the Leopold Whiskey barrel version, I don't know if I got a different one than that by accident or by design, but I'm glad to get to try a different version

Cool, definitely a weird vibe there when I was there but it was a week day night and I was there with the family so might be different in other circumstances. I have heard I really should have made it to Burial. Your thoughts? Also, I LOVE english beers and theres were good but not great in my opinion.

    Thanks @treznor.
I've been keeping an eye on the Southeast forum and have come away with a lot of good info. Wanted to check with the group here to see if anyone had additional into. Kid friendly during the day is a must, but I'm sure I'll get out some at night.
I'm sure we're getting in after you leave town. We don't get in until the 23rd.

After spending a year and a half in London, I do NOT LOVE English beers, so have based my statement of Green Man's being good on others  Burial is awesome. Their Skillet Donut which is on draft somewhat frequently (and just got canned) is my favorite, but they have plenty of good beer. Plus its a fun place to hangout. Really glad they just expanded their brewery (so they're just tiny, not microscopic). Burial doesn't have the lineup that WW does (NO ONE in NC has the lineup that WW does, from a bredth AND quality standpoint), but its probably my second favorite.

There are very few places that wouldn't be kid friendly in Asheville. I can't think of any off the top of my head, though I'm sure they're out there. There's certainly some upscale dining places that might be a bit questionable depending on crankiness, etc but that's about it. I'm only their on the 18th for the festival, so we'll definitely miss each other unfortuantely.

Two things to note about Biscuit Head: 'Gravy flight' and 'jam bar'.

So tonight I find a Lost Abbey logo on my bottle...super excited again:

Color is a reddish brown, nose and taste is strong in raspberries. It is very effervescent on the tongue.

    Framboise de Amarosa. Thanks @Kylo76!

    This!
The Red Eye Gravy was mind blowing but there were several that were amazing. Jam/Butter Bar made me sad that I couldn't physically eat more every time I went.

The porter is the maple oak barrel version. I haven't had it yet, but how can you go wrong with maple...

Alrighty Day 4 going down over here. First off opened up the bottle this morning. Not a want but @jschott75 did his research. Love Deschutes, especially their reserve series, and love the style.
But first had to put a small dent in the extras box. First up a IPA from Half Acre I preferred to Daisy Cutter a bit. It incorporates the floral aspects into a much more well rounded beer than its PA counterpart.
And then cracked another extra. I had originally rated this one a 3.8, but returned it to my wants list recently. Wee Heavies are definitely growing on me as a style and this is a great one. If anyone is interested in trading AleSmith (Wee Heavy, Olde Ale or Old Numbskull) for Virginia locals, seriously hit me up, I'd love to stock my cellar. Definitely a top 5 breweries that should expand to my area.

    Cheers!

Not sure I can top @treznor on the Asheville front.

I can't find a better spot to hang than the south slope. Funkatorium at wicked weed. Tasty bev. Greenman. Burial and French broad chocolate factory all there in one spot to walk in a circle.

It's my go to area. The crowds are easier too. If you arent beer drinkin in Asheville. You done fucked up.

Time for Day #4, @UTvols05 keeps knocking it out of the park!

Passed on a bottle of this a week or two ago do to price and the fact that I rarely buy beer for myself. Been kicking myself ever since and was really pumped when I opened this one up!

Great stuff here: malt, a little smoke, and a nice bit of the barrels coming through. Thanks again Kyle!
