Admitting Your Beer Noobdom

I still think SA Boston Lager is craft beer.

 

I look at the trade page and struggle to figure out what all the abbreviations mean. I've also never had a Dark Lord, or anything from Hill Farmstead, or a Hunahpu (among MANY others).

 

Not having anything from HF doesn't make you a n00b, it makes you part of the 99%

Don't worry about that, I consider myself relatively well versed in this stuff, and half the time when people start throwing out abbreviations it takes me a minute to figure out what the hell they're talking about...I suppose that's the reason the bro's banned the use of them a while back (though it didn't stick I guess), too much confusion from lazy fingers.

 

Sadly, I lived in Vermont for 5 years, and then moved right before they hit. Just my luck!

I don't always drink from the appropriate glass. Sometimes, I drink straight from the bottle.

 

Geez, we all know its an Indian Pale Ale, brewed by the Indians for the pilgrims at the first Thanksgiving.

As recently as a couple months ago I was in a store with the full line-up of Firestone Walker beers (not something one sees every day as a Canadian). I only bought a single Parabola and nothing else (from FW) because I didn't know any better at the time. I only spent about $65 that day but if I could do it all over I'd be dropping a few bills minimum. At least I had the wits about me to grab a Pliny.

 

I have not had CBS, Dark Lord, Darkness, Kate the great, BCBS, King Henry, Pliny, Heady, Zombie dust and many other rare beers, and I would have to try very hard to care at all.

 

I have only been drinking good beer for about a year and a half. So no matter how much I feel like I know/ or had, I realize there is So much more I don't know/havent had.

 

I have been drinking good beer since the craft boom around '02-'04 and really only got into seeking out beer in the last 2 years. I just tried SKA Modus Hoperandi just last week.

 

When people on the forums talked about 3F gueuze or kriek I thought they were talking about sours made by Three Floyds until recently...

 

So 3F is not Three Floyds? And what the hell is FFF? Never knew if those were referring to the same thing or not.
