I really hope this was at a bar (which is still ridiculous even for an on premise price)

    1 - We're all crazy LOL
2- True - I was just surprised because I am a huge fan of BBA Stouts and this one missed the mark. Example - To me all 4 Founders Stouts are better, Imperial, Breakfast, KBS and CBS. But again, I'll give GI another shot when this years come out.

See for me the only one better than regular BCBS is CBS. I would take all of the variants except BW over CBS (on taste alone) Obviously I would love to have an original CBS from a collector standpoint.

I'm starting to wonder if I just got some from a stale keg. They had no head to them at all and tasted flat. I was really surprised but being they were both from the same keg its very possible. Looking forward to giving this years batch a try.
BTW - I recently had KBS on tap - as great as it is in a bottle its even better on tap. To me its a toss up between CBS and KBS if both are on tap. Cheers

If we are talking 2013 I would take them all over CBS, idk if I'm crazy, but the 2013 bcbs/bcbw/bcbcs were all better.

Nope. It was at a liquor store on 9th Ave. Everything else was a decent price. I thought I had struck gold when I saw it, but when I asked for the price, I realized why the beers were still there.

See - this is why I have to believe I just got a stale keg of BCBS.

I dunno, if Goose Island came out with Green Bell Pepper BCBS, it'd probably sit on the shelf too, regardless of price.

Nope, you're not crazy. I totally agree as do many others and I've heard the difference in taste is a result of them having to turn on the heaters in the barrel warehouse for the first time ever because of the brutal winter temps in '14. The barrels didn't have a chance to completely do their thing (contract fully, I guess?).

Vanilla Rye draft was still amazing though so I don't think it was a total loss. Haven't drank my '14 Prop yet, but I heard it was OK.

I speculate a lot of complaining regardless of price and format by Small Business Saturday.

Prop 14 was amazing. Liquid cinnamon toast crunch.

Prop favorite will depend on your preference of coconut vs cinnamon. I am a big coconut fan so 13 blows 14 away for me which was a complete cinnamon bomb.

The BCBS variant confirmation was in the ABV Chicago interview on 7/16/14 with Brett Porter. We're getting near that date, but with a different head brewmaster the timetable is completely speculative

While I like 2014 BCBS about as much as CBS, in general I'd choose CBS over BCBS (if we're talking non-variants). You're not crazy for preferring CBS, since it's a phenomenal beer.

With that being said, I'm a huge BCBS fanboy, and don't like KBS all that much, so take all that with a grain of salt.

The interesting thing is that of the two '14 Prop bottles I've had, the first actually had more coconut than any of the '13 bottles I had (including those I drank fresh), and the second bottle of '14 had no coconut whatsoever. There seems to be a huge variation in the '14 bottles (and now I'm terrified of opening my last bottle of '14, because without the coconut taste the cloying cinnamon sweetness is too much).

That's interesting, I have never heard that. I have had the 13 a few times when it came out and again a few weeks ago and it still had a good amount of coconut in it. I was disappointed in the 14 as it was just straight cinnamon with no coconut.

Yeah, if the 2nd bottle I had had been the only one, I would not have tasted any coconut, either (I was really confused that people were calling it a "cinnamon bomb" until I had the 2nd bottle). '14 Prop is my girlfriend's favorite beer (because of the coconut; '13 is also up there), and we were both really let down by the 2nd bottle. I also had a bottle of '13 that had had the coconut fall off, though, so maybe I've just got bad luck!

Yea I think there is definitely some variation. I noticed the most actually with the vanilla rye. I was lucky to get a few bottles and then tried it on tap and didn't think it was that great so traded them all. Had a second bottle 2 months later, and was still not loving it. Then another 2 months later I had it on tap and regretting trading a single bottle.
