Day #5 Double Dry Hopped Fort Point -

Have had Fort Point before but this one blew me away. Easily my favorite Trillium beer I've had so far. So much flavor, poured like a pineapple juice and had a beautiful tropical nose. Great beer @LehighAce06 and was happy to pop @lefty17 's Trillium cherry. There may be more where that came from...
And thank you @campa86 for the Freckle. Enjoyed it a hell of a lot more this time around than the last, when I was standing in the pouring rain in line for bottles at DLD.

Time for my 2nd beer of Day #5 from @UTvols05:

Wasn't really a fan of this one, some nice bourbon and oak flavors here but sweet and a little off for me. Glad to have had a chance to try this one though Kyle!

Tonight @UcDru and I cracked our bottles without looking. For my bottle we fared quite well. Through the unlabeled bottle cap and days 3 and 4 I surmised it may be a TG beer. After trying it, I deducted it to be a light, easy drinking Pale Ale. He looked up TG offerings and I actually chose Light Speed, based on seeing others drink it recently.

Thanks @dmbforever i assume this means days 6-8 are KBBS, Assassin and Moring Delight? :stuck_out_tongue:

@PA-Michigander and I decided to jump on the blind train tonight as he mentioned. I opened my day 5 selection courtesy of @RuckIt after we enjoyed his.

Firs the mystery. It poured a deep brown color and with mid-high level of carb. If the color was not obvious it was a Belgian the nose was a dead giveaway. Immediately we knew we were in trouble as neither of us were well versed in Belgian's outside of the "usual suspects". We would have been happy just nailing the style. In the nose we took in clove, dark fruits and a bit of booze quite complex. On the palate it was very soft and almost polar opposite very simple. No booze present a tough of carb sting on the tongue. I suggested this had to be a dubbel, quad belgian strong/dark ale. Something in that realm. We were certain we had never had it and with relative certainty narrowed it to some what of a Northeast local..

    The reveal:

Brewmaster Jack PrinSIPia Quad. 11.5%?? Not sure where it was hidden because it certainly was not present on the palate. A total of 299 checkins on untapped and neither Nick or I's friends had checked this one in before. Was a great experience and nice brew. Thanks again for having me over Nick see you next time through!

I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse to lay in bed at 6:30 in the morning and drink a beer. . But I guess it's time for Day 6!

In the spirit of the '12 Days' I'm gonna ignore Deschutes recommendation of enjoying this after January of next year (although I think they're right)

So, wife and I cheated last night and shared nights 6 and 7. Day 7 yielded a bourbon barrel aged Santa's Little Helper from Port Brewing.

This was an interesting one; reviews on BA are very mixed, but I quite liked it. Rich and nuanced, with the slightest hint of gingerbread on the end. Not overly spiced or boozy despite being 12%. Good stuff. Now I'm BIF beerless for tonight!

@JNForsyth - I couldn't decided if I wanted to include those Bell's beers as extras or a day, but I knew I wanted them to go to you since they were both new ticks. In the end, I thought those would be easy to put aside for later so I decided to make them a day and "force" you to enjoy them right away!

I hope you're not burnt out yet because things get pretty big this weekend!

Had that for the first time last weekend. It was the highlight of the tasting for me. I know some of their bottles are very hard to get, but are they all difficult?

There's some sporadic bottle availability when a shop makes a trek up into the mountains or Troy is feeling spontaneous.

Other than that, the protocol is pretty simple. He's located in Glenwood Springs, which for me is a 5'ish hour drive each way. He is open 1 Saturday a month and this is your only opportunity to drink on site or get to go bottles. Lately, there have been 3-4 different bottles available and they vary (for instance, no saison, east bank, or regular oak theory available in July).

@Kramerbarthomer Might be able to supply even more insight, as although I've been a fan from the beginning, July is the first time I was able to make the trip on the right day given family (toddler) constraints.

We need more PrOn! No where close to 40/day.....................

And I understand that there ARE reasons like Sick family/work schedule/life issues etc.

It's just the old man reliving the moments in the 1940's when I just loved seeing my 14 brothers and sisters open up their cans of Simonize, Zepplin's, bowling balls and Fuzzy Pink Bunny suits!
