I think Kriek and Folie have unique UPCs, while other LoF bottles share UPCs. It's kind of a pain that they re-use UPCs (others do it, too and it screws with inventory and pricing). If the store doesn't catch it, then it goes on the shelf as whatever the previous beer/UPC was. I can see this happening, especially at stores that won't know the difference between beers.

Both La Folie and Le Terroir were $9.10 in Casper.

Wow! It's straight up highway robbery in CO.

The price gouging definitely keeps me away from LOF beers knowing that we're getting screwed so badly.

To be fair, last year La Folie WAS $18. I asked my beer guy wtf. He didn't know which prices were the right ones.

So...they're literally 1/2 price 3 hours north of Ft. Collins? Anyone ever run into a discrepancy with craft prices like this before? Obviously imports tend to be cheaper on their home turf and some places overcharge for rarities, but this seems like something else altogether.

Yeah, sounds like duplicate/re-used UPC codes and the stores' computers/POS aren't being adjusted

Are there any CO stores that don't adjust their POS systems for these duplicate UPC codes?
I'd like to know for research purposes of course.

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. No other CO breweries have an in-state premium

Correct, LOTS of breweries reuse SKU's all the time, the fact is: La Folie, Le Terroir, NOR Eric's Ale should not be $18... it's not just an Eric's Ale thing, it's this particular SKU in CO problem....

I've never seen a $6 swing in price unless it's a shop that ships and they incorporate shipping and/or shipping materials into the cost of the beer.

Every time I buy Chocolate Yeti, it's an adventure. No store seems to know what the hell it is.

I think it's the other way around. The code is the same, but out of state stores don't change the price from the cheaper LoF product. CO stores know better and keep an eye out for cost differences, out of state stores are losing their margin.

Of course, this is a big IF---as in, IF this is the source of the discrepancy.

I see what you're saying. Wow, that's pretty much EVERY other state though isn't it? I can't believe THAT many people/distributors/stores would make that mistake (or not mistake)?

Wyoming peeps--can these be found in Cheyenne? I might have to do an Eric's/fireworks/camping run and not get gouged 5 minutes from where this stuff is brewed.

The way us CO residents are grabbing ankles on these prices is maddening.

I payed $16.99 + tax at Wilbur's yesterday, less than 3 miles from the brewery. If people are really getting this for $11.55 in other states, that equates to a 47% markup!!!!

There really should be an answer to this as far as I am concerned.

Has anyone actually reached out to NB? There's a lot of bitching on here, but maybe we should contact them directly and raise the concern. Maybe they can address it, maybe they can explain it. http://www.newbelgium.com/brewery/contact-us.aspx

Now in the meantime, if anyone is making a run up to Wyoming and wants to pick up a case...I'm in for a couple bottles.

I don't think anyone has done it with this bottle but I have done it in the past and was told what has been stated. The price is right here in CO and everybody else has it wrong.

And I'm in on the case if someone is going up

I hear you, I assumed people already have...but maybe more pings will get them thinking and address it publicly. Dunno, maybe a pipe dream.
