I'm pretty new in my appreciation of good beers, but I find most Sam Adams..... lacking. If it isn't Boston Lager it just doesn't cut it for me. How do you guy's feel about Sam Adams brews?

Edit: Cream stout wasn't too terrible, for a stout. Nothing compared to Young's Double Chocolate, which I thought was fantastic.

SA is a good step-up beer as is Young's. Another small step up would be Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout, craft beer is in it's golden age now and depending where you live their are more than likely some amazing beers brewed close by you haven't heard of yet.

SABL is for sure a classic. However, to switch it up, look for the SA IPA Hop-ology 12 pk. Also, that SA Double Pumpkin should be just around the corner. Pretty tasty! Enjoy!

I'll certainly keep an eye out for that oatmeal stout. So far I've tried Weihenstephaner's wheat beers, several Stone and Ommegang brews, a few Smuttynose's, and the different types of Guinness (which is what I started with.) I'm in the tri-state. I've seen Zombie Dust at my local store once and have never seen it since. I had no idea how highly it is reviewed.

ZD was in a store? I would be all over that, just read the forums and try a new beer each drinking session.

I've always hesitated before buying beers with strange names. I've recently come to learn that the name doesn't really tell you too much about a brew before you actually have one. I'll be looking out for these too. They sound familiar.

Indeed. I can't remember if it was shop-rite or bottle-king. May have been one of the local places by me, but I saw it for sure. Remembered thinking any drink with the name dust in it must be awful. How wrong I was!

It's supposed to be brewery only, possibly a rogue sale which wouldn't be the first. Try different styles from IPAs to Stouts to Belgians to Porters but also the simpler beers like a good Czech Pilz or an English Bitter. There are so many amzing beers right now from all over, for a good summer beer with a hop bite I would reccomend Victory Prima Pilz and also there Summer Love. And don't be afraid of beer names it's just to draw attention, though it is odd that dust scares you more than zombies...

I would also recommend Half Acre Daisy Cutter and Ithaca Flower Power.

Haven't had any Half Acre here but highly recommend Flower Power, only thing is FP drops off quick(damn liquor stores should store all IPAs cold). Fresh Flower Power is awesome and worth buying.

They can be hit or miss for me (let's not even talk about Cranberry Lambic), but the have some solid beers that I enjoy the hell out of; Latitude 48, Noble Pils, Dark Depths, Old Fezziwig. They're one of those breweries I'll always try.

Nobil Pilz was amazing. Almost forgot I tried that one. I've never heard of the others you mentioned. More to keep an eye out for.

They are entry level, but do make decent stuff from time to time. Noble Pils is probably their best beer, but not as good as Prima, Notch, Stoudts or Polestar to name a few American takes. I have heard Pike from PA makes a nice Pilsner, but haven't had it.

I actually saw a SA fall mix pack today with a pumpkin, IPA and some beer that I swear, said it was colored with something (had just left the bar so...). The beauty was it was in a Quik Trip, our mega gas station/munchie stations here in the southwest.

This is what I am reading the lineup is:

    Octoberfest
    Harvest Pumpkin
    Hazel Brown (new)
    Dunkelweizen
    Boston Lager
    Latitude 48 IPA

I'm down, and I hope to see it in my area soon! SA's Fall mixed pack is always my favorite!
